When youve dropped bottles with your LO did you just cut the bottle out right away and offer water/juice or did you gradually decrease the amount of oz's until they wernt taking any?

Im trying to give Brooke a little nudge in the right direction

Annabelle has never been a big drinker and its always been a game trying to get her to drink bottles anyway so she never cries for a bottle so when i cut it she didnt even notice LOL, i do offer juice/water but she wont drink it so i have started to introduce a snack now at that time

I took the milk bottle away at his solid feeds and gave him water. So he is currently on 3 bottles and 2 solid feeds a day.

i just dropped the bottle and offered water/juice instead - found for maddi the first one i took away was the 11am one - so she went from breakfast at 8 till lunch around 12, then gradually they all started to drop.

she now has between 2/3 7oz bottles a day

Thanks girls

Im dropping her 10.30 feed ...

I gave her more porridge and some toast then only offered her 1oz of milk to wash it down as she usually has her milk with her food

Will offer her the 1oz for a couple of days so she gets the hang and then just give her some water or juice.

Then we'll be down to 4 bottles a day .. 2 7oz and 2 8oz :happydance:

Chloe did it herself, one day just refused her lunchtime bottle and took it at 3pm so then skipped her tea time bottle, he now has 6oz twice a day and 1 8oz

I dropped the lunchtime one quite a while ago I think and offered water instead. So now he has a 7oz, 5oz and 9oz.

I just took one away with his tea and give him juice instead, he kicked off for the first few days but soon got used. Erm....can i ask...this toast business, is she ok with it? im such a chicken i wanna give paddy some but im scared (sorry to gatecrash) x

Yeah she's fine .. she sort of mushes it up, if she puts a bit in thats too big she spits it back out once she realises its not going to go down

We havent had any choking accidents yet!!

I decreased her lunch time bottle to 5 oz then this weekend I just tried to knock it out and replaced with some fruit. She was a little grumpy an hour before last bottle, but no screams!

For her night feeds we tried dropping gradually and found it confused her so ended up going cold turkey after about a week of that. Took another week for her to get used to it

I dropped Seren's 5th bottle quite early, when she was about 2-3 months and she was just having 4 larger bottles then x
