I voted for both Anya and Esme since I prefer them to the other choices in an equal way. All pretty names though! Arabella is my least favourite and to me the "Arab" part stands out. I don't have anything against Arabs, I'm married to one and my kids are Arab but that part of the name doesn't sound as feminine and pretty.
Anya is the cutest, eventhough I'd probably write Anja, because it looks more normal less "uneek" to me.
Arabella is the name if a pretty wellknown talkshow host here in Germany so I really can't think of it out of that context, eventhough it's a nice name.
esme makes me think of twilight.
Niamh I never heard before, it looks like a good name, but to me sounds like a guy's name.
Thanks everyone. I thought Anya was the most common spelling...I do like Anja variation too but hadn't seen it spelt that way.
Esme is hubby's suggestion....it makes me think of Twilight too & is a bit too popular near me for my liking.
Arabella is my fave but hubby's not too keen.
Niamh (pronounced Neeve) is Irish...it's a Gaelic name...I do like it but I know the spelling will confuse some people
I like Esme the best, I've never read or watched Twilight and try to stay as far away from it as possible so no connection there for me.
I also like Arabella but it's a bit formal sounding for every day use IMO and I'm not fond of Bella on its own.
Anya is cute but doesn't really grab me like the others. I want to like Niamh because I love traditional Irish names but I agree with a PP that it strikes me as quite masculine (though with unisex names being popular that probably doesn't matter to a lot of people).
