A nappy disposal bin is next on my list to buy, so I've been looking at the Angelcare Deluxe (the hands-free one with the foot pedal, which is £25) and the Tommee Tippee Hygiene Plus (usually £25 but currently on sale for £10). Both get mixed reviews online (the general consensus being that they're great for newborn nappies but not so good once LO gets older/smellier!), so I wondered if anyone has any first-hand experience? The main differences between the two are:
1) The Angelcare is taller/bigger so you don't need to bend down and it also holds more nappies.
2) The Angelcare is hands free (you just step on the foot pedal, drop the nappy in and release the pedal), but with the Tommee Tippee you have to twist the top of the unit a couple of times to seal the nappy and then use the plunger/lid to push it down into the bin part.
3) The Tommee Tippee 'twists' each nappy in plastic to seal it against smells etc, but the Angelcare just drops them all into one big sack unwrapped (it apparently has an airlock to seal in smells though, and I suppose you could always use cheap nappy sacks as well).
Using a normal bin isn't an option as we have two dogs who like to eat disgusting things, so we need something that will actually seal the used nappies away until we're ready to empty it. I'm not too bothered if I have to change it/abandon it once LO gets a bit older, so long as it works well when he's newborn and going through a dozen nappies a day - especially as it'll be the middle of winter and I'll be avoiding going outside to the bin as much as possible!
