Hi,

I wanted to post a URL to something on Baby Centre that I thought was really good, but I wanted to check first that I'm allowed to do that??

It's only an animated video - nothing selling anything or anything like that, but I wanted to make sure I haven't missed a rule about what sites are ok or something.

Thanks.

these are the rules:

No links to commercial websites, auctions/eshop†, forums, referral or affiliate links, unauthorised third party pregnancy & parenting resources / forums.

I'm actually not quite sure what baby centre is

LOL, it is a preg/parenting site, but I saw the rule you've quoted above and that's only in the section about the rules for signatures, to stop them cluttering up the forums. I don't want to put the link in my signature, just in a post. In the rules for posts it only says:

You may not post advertising, commission, referral or affiliate links. You may not link to sites whose main income is derived from affiliate or referral links.
You may not link to third party forums or unapproved social networking Web Sites (Approved sites: Facebook, Bebo, Myspace).
You may not link, in any manner, to sites or images containing pornography, sexually explicit, gross violence, or are determined by moderators to be detrimental to the community.

If the rule for signatures does apply to posts too, how do i find out which third party sites are authorised and which aren't?

Thanks for your help.

umm let me ask one of the other admin since I'm not 100% certain :) and I don't want to tell you wrong

For sites like that the general rule of thumb is, posting to articles is ok, but no posting links to the forums (there are a few exceptions to the rule which are completely banned, but these are in the spam filter anyway :)).

The rule about third party pregnancy/parenting sites (combined the rule about 'advertising or self publicity') was originally written to stop people signing up and plugging their websites.
