who's had/having a babyshower?

i dont actually know of anyone in the UK whos had one lol x

I didn't until literally about 2 weeks ago, and then 2 girls that I know had babyshowers. One of them sounded quite good as her parents organised it and they had a huge family BBQ and she announced the names she'd chosen for the LO which I thought was really nice because she wanted to keep it within the family until LO is born :) the other girl just posted on her facebook saying something like "having a babyshower at mine on Sat, bring presents for a baby girl & some booze" :dohh: x

No sadly not but we will have a christening party within 4-6weeks after bubs is born to celebrate LO xxxx

Yeah I think this is what we're going to do, it'll be nice to celebrate once the baby is here and let all the family/friends see the LO without our house being invaded :haha: x

I just found out today my friend is throwing me a surprise one! :D she's terrible at secrets! Plus she was worrying bout the weather coz she'd planned a bbq and well, we're having a typical english summer up here in yorkshire! I'm really scared tho because i don't know who's going to turn up! I have a few close friends from school but everyone else kinda drifted away when i got pregnant and couldn't go out every weeked with them!

I am having one for sure. My OHs mom is throwing us one, and we will probably have a meet and greet, once the baby is born, so everyone can meet our LO, and im sure more people will bring gifts.

We're doing a meet and great too  Well my family calls it a "welcome to the world party". I had a very small semi-surprise shower that was combined with my birthday party because I didn't want a baby shower, although they're popular here. And since I didn't find out the sex, many people have said that the meet and great will be easier since they'll know what to buy ( although I've insisted that gifts are not necessary nor expected)

This is my MIL's first bio gradchild so to them its super important to have a baby shower. But i agree wekeep telling people we dont "need" anything.

Aww that's something very special to them then, they must me so excited :flower: This isn't my mom's first grandchild, so she was a bit upset when I told her I didn't want a shower but I'm sure one of my sister's will be giving her another reason to throw a shower soon :haha: it is FOB's parent's first grandchild but they're having nothing to do with my LO so they obviously aren't doing anything  Yeah I keep getting asked "what do you need/want" and getting told I should have a registry, but I just don't feel comfortable "telling" people what to buy

well im with my OH and everything and hes a mommas boy. So its a big deal to them. They treat my son as their own, they just didnt get to do that for him cause obviously me and My OH werent together.

play games, and visit really. Its a good way to get everyone together though.

The games are so fun, and at most your get a little prize. I love baby showers =)

What kinda games? i have no idea what to expect!
I almost wish i wasn't having one! What if noone turns up? I don't really have that many good friends!
Do your family go?

im not having one, nobody would really turn up as they'd think i was just tryna get free stuff off them as they're not a big tradition like they are in the USA x

umm, we did the guess the belly size (they take a peice of string and quess how big your belly is lol

Theres another one with melted chocolate bars in a diaper and you have to quess what kind it is lol

theres one with pop in a baby bottle (first to drink it all wins)

There one where you put a ballon in your shirt and tie your shoes first to do it wins.

I cant think of any other ones.
