This is more of a rant than anything, I know no one can tell me what's wrong over the internet (sadly!), although if anyone has any input I'd love to hear it!

I posted a couple of weeks ago about pain in my nipples which I thought was due to getting my period back. The pain is still there, it's just getting worse- it feels like DD is ripping my nipple off! My nipples are very pink and raw looking also.

I've been to the doctor a couple of times. First I was prescribed cream for thrush but I don't think it's that- DD doesn't have oral thrush and the cream hasn't helped at all. The second time the doctor just said try formula feeding for a few days to give my nipples a break :dohh:. I've seen my HV and a breastfeeding support lady who said maybe DD wasn't latching properly every ime but I'm not convinced there either- surely she wouldn't stop latching right after over 2 months of doing it fine?

On Monday I'm seeing a breastfeeding specialist who hopefully will be able to help but in the meantime I'm bighting my fist whilst feeding DD :(

I understand your pain! My nipples are both so battered that they're actually bleeding. :( I have to fight back tears every time he latches on and then stay tensed up in pain through the rest of the feed. In my case, I think it comes down to my LO's lip tie and tongue tie, which I plan on getting fixed at his two week check-up.

But just know that you're not alone. :hugs:

It sounds very much like thrush. I am still battling it at week 7. It can be very difficult to treat because fungus is becoming more and more resistant.

Not much advise sorry, just sympathy here x hope you get help and everything gets sorted soon :)

It sounds like thrush to me too, you can still have it even though your lo doesn't have any obviously in their mouth. Did you treat LO as well at the same time as putting cream on your nipples? Even if LO has no signs they nees to be treated at the same time orherwise it just passes back and forth.

Sounds exactly like thrush to me! It might have got into your milk ducts which makes things even more painful. You need a dose of fluconazole to treat you, and baby also needs treatment otherwise you'll be forever passing it back and forth to each other.

A lot of doctors will only treat one of you and not both....push for the meds for the pair of you or you'll be back to the doctors again before you can say thrush :haha:

I'd also recommend that you get some Acidophilus (Holland & Barrett sell it) as it gives you a boost of good bacteria which can also help you get rid of thrush faster :flower:

I have no experience of thrush but I do know it's possible for babies to stop latching properly. My daughter certainly did. She's never been the best anyway but I have nips of steel so it doesn't matter normally, but every now and then we both seem to get complacent and she gets lazy and it hurts until I make her pay more attention! So maybe try concentrating on latching, like you would for a newborn, and see if that helps at all. Even if it's not the cause of the problem, a slightly dodgy latch might make things feel worse.

Thanks for all the fab input ladies :).
Just to update I saw the lactation consultant and she said it's thrush mastitis (not sure if that's the actual term for it) and I went back to the doctor and got antibiotics. I had swabs done and my milk has gone for a culture to see if it's bacterial or something else. The infection is right through to in front of my shoulder blade which has caused inflamation and bulging. I've been having bad rib pain but didn't put the 2 together! So hopefully I'll be back to normal soon :)

Edit: didn't read the update. My comment is useless now! Don't know how to delete haha
