Why is one asked for and not the other? Does one give a clearer picture than the other. The last thing that's getting looked at for me is a lap and dye- if clear I will be classed as 'unexplained'.

Anyone had experices of hsg- why was it requested? lap and dye has been requested to make sure tubes are open and there is no endo.

Please answer if you have had experiences of either.

Thanks :hugs::hugs:

Las more invasive and the hsg tells if your open. They actually cut you open to lap...vs going through your natural openings for hsg. Why go through being cut if you don't have too? I had the hsg. It wasn't bad for me but its different for everyone. Women with blockages tend to hurt more. I had discharge for a couple of days aftercand cramps during. If I had to do it again I wouldn't be afraid of it though.

NHS have asked for lap and dye so have Napro, just to clarify there is no endo and if there is try and fix it with the same procedure. Suppose it makes sense when looking at it that way. I take it a lap can tell if tubes are open??

I went straight to lap&dye, my consultant said in my case they suspected severe adhesions and so the hsg could show tubes open but not where they are.... They did indeed find my tubes open and the dye flowed but both tubes are stuck in the wrong place due to the scarring, hope that makes sense! So we have a sml chance of conceiving without help. The lap&dye for me was a bit of a palaver and I ended up staying in hospital overnight and 2-3 wks recovery, i know a few other people to have the same procedure and it be alot more straight forward: in/out hospital in a day and feeling better within a few days. My lap was done through the NHS - the consultants were great and I felt well looked after!

I went straight to lap and dye on the request of my specialist, all came back clear do I am diagnosed as unexplained, but as another post said recovery for me was two weeks and I was very surprised just how slow it was recovery wise!

I went for my first consultation today and was told two weeks for my lap and dye- I asked them to make it the end of Sep as we're due to book two scans for follicle tracking mid Sep. Anyway- feel ok about having it now as its 'a straight forward procedure' I suppose this depends pon what they find and whether or not they zap it!!

Plus as we're doing Napro and we're not allowed to start trying until Oct ovulation so this time scale fits along with the clearing the cobwebs, lol. xx
