Hi, I am due to have baby October and I am single, I work full time and I am looking to come back to work March 2013, apart from smp maternity pay will I get any more help, its going to be impossible to pay £500.00 rent, £100.00 council tax when I will only be getting £540.00 per month maternity pay, wont have any oney for food, gas, electric etc, this is my first pregnancy so all this is very new to me

While I was on maternity leave I could claim child benefit, child and working tax credits xx

Yeah you will get help.

I am the same as you, I have been told I will get Maternity pay, then I will get child tax credit, working tax credit & Child Benefit (Which everyone is entitled too)

The amount varys for each case - But for me it works out that with everything included, I will get about the same amount of money every month as I did when I was in full time work :)

If you live alone, depending on where you're from, you may also be entitled to housing benefit help.

Hope this helps

:flow:

child benefit is 81.20 a month
tax credits can vary depending on how much you worked before maternity leave
i worked about 27 hour weeks so i got roughly 460 a month

I work 40 hours a week and get roughly 395 a month working and child tax credits (this is before new tax year)
