Will you be giving baby a middle name and why?

Yes, because my middle name is a family tradition and was pasted to my first daughter, from me, from my mum, from hers and hers. So Freya Jayne is a fifth generation Jayne/Jane (spellings differ).

So our new daughter will also have a middle name and as my Nanna died just before Freya was born we have decided to honour her memory by using her name as the middle name. We have chosen the name Seren Joan for DD #2.

Yes because......

We are using family names for both first names and middle names.

However, i personally wouldn't give a middle name if it wasn't a family name.

Yes because FOB has little family left and it will carry his fathers name (its unisex hehe) and my daughter has one too xx

Yes because of personal experience. I was born without a MN and I absoutely hated it. At the age of eighteen/nineteen I added two middle names when I changeed my surname. I don't see the point of not having one like people it helps to ID if people in the family have the same initals. I love my longer name as I've got a 4 letter surname.

I am because that way if he/she doesn't like their first name maybe they will like their middle one.

My brother actually went by his middle name in school because it sounds more young man type but he now goes by his first name as he says it sounds more adult.

Yes Because My Daughter has a Middle name and If i have a Girl this time her Middle name will be a Tribute to my Hero so it just seems fitting

Yes because we usually use the middle names of some one that was really special to us :)

Yes my two both have a middle name from each side. Think its nice to represent family, my daughter has one middle name that is the same as me, my aunty, nanna etc:)

I voted Yes, because... I like too many names

I wasn't going to give Helena one but I did. I don't see a problem with not giving one :)

yes, Why? I really don't know. the names we've got are strong.. i believe a middle name makes the name stronger or something lol! None of my Family have a middle name heh! OH's family does lol! XD

Yes, and the same reason as lots of people I should think - because everyoen in both our families have them and it didn't occur to us not to!! Plus it helps get a name in for each family as we want to call her Joyce (after my granny - Joy for short) so having a middle name means we get OH's granny in too - Margaret. Not my favourite name - sorry to offend anyone (I like shortened versions - Maggie etc) but middle names rarely get used lol

I gave all my children family members names as their middle names. Didnt really think about not giving one to be honest , just something that our family have always done, although they are not after other family members, they are quite random names, I like the fact that my childrens names have a relevance iykwim. xx

Yes because I want my Dad's name in there. He passed away last year and I want to honour him.

yes, because in my family we have a "tradition" (sort of) that the son gets his middle name from his father's first name.

It just seems odd not to have a middle name to me...and he can use his middle name if he doesn't like his first...which is why we gave him a quite unusual middle name and a traditional first name! x

Yes. I don't have one and I've always wanted one so I will give one to my child :flower:

I knew a family who had 4 sons and the way they named them was the oldest's first name became the next one's middle name and so on...quite cool really!

Everyone in my family has one (I have two) and they are all family names/surnames so I'll be doing the same. Our baby will have two - one after someone in our family and one will be my surname, which I kept after getting married.

if i have a girl, then her middle name will be Heidi as its my twin sisters name. she is without a doubt my best friend & i'm sure she will become my babys favourite auntie  her first born daughter has my name as her middle name & i love it xxxx

I was just wondering if you are giving your baby a middle name?

If you are, why?

If your not, why?

I am not giving Charlie a middle name as personally i dont see the point, we didnt give harry one and it just doesnt both me to be honest as the name will never be used.

Would like to hear your answers though :)

We are giving Emerald a middle name (although keeping it secret until after the birth), but we are doing it because it has a significant meaning to me and my husband. And I feel it completes her name :)
