hi ladies - i think we have decided on the name william for our little boy - to be shortened to billy. what do you think?
william has always been around the top 10 names but i dont actually know any - just wondering how many wiliams you know?
thanks in advance xxxxx :hugs:

I LOVE it! I love it shortened to Billy too!x

I really like William
It's my hubby's middle name, and I know one Will, but that's it.

Not keen, but go for it as you will never find a name that everyone likes.

I looove the name William! It's my grandfather's name, and I know a load of Williams. It's such a nice name

thanks so much for all your replies xxx
how old are the williams you know? just trying to gage whether it is really to popular at the moment for babies - i dont want a name where there will be 3/4 of them in his class at school. xxxxx

my father in law is called william but uses his middle name instead duno why.
my sons middle name is william and my mates babies first name is william.

i think its a gorgeous name

Love it, especially with the shortening of Billy. Its a classic name that won't age.

I go to a couple of baby groups and there is one William in each I believe. I would say its popular but not too popular at the moment.

I have one friend with a baby named William, after his father -- i think it used to be a very common name for people who are now like 30 - 50 years old. And is still somewhat common due to daddy's naming their babies after them.

I like William shortened to Liam... i prefer more modern names personally...

I prefer it shortened to Will, but either way I like it. I think that William and Will are both timeless. xx

I know two Williams, one is 28ish, the other a five month old bubba!

i quite like it, not a big fan but its good that billy is good as a cute name as a lo then will when growing up xxxx

My brother is William and he is 26, it sounds very masculine and strong on him. His mates call him Billy but his family call him Will.
William isn't that common on the school yard, in my son's class (he's 8) there is one William, I think names like Harry, Charlie and Archie were more popular 7-8 years ago.

i no 1 William and that's my brother he was named after my great granddads, his middle name is edward and hes 13 xx

I love this name! and it also happens to be my hubbys name,he's 32, and i call him Billy, but everyone else calls him Bill, and it'll be our sons middle name!
I don't know any others really, have heard it a few times lately being called out in supermarket etc.. but it probably just sticks in my mind, as it is hubbys name!
I think it's a really sweet name for a baby, and a good solid adult name!
