william

My sons name is William :) his granddad was William and its one of the strongest names thats why we choose it.

thanks ladies. we still really like william although a few people have said arent you worried he will be called willy??!! well thanks, i wasnt before but i am now!!

no they wont, no one calls my son willy or billy its William. I dont know anyone called Willy its always Billy if shortened when they are older which it wont be by me he is always William.

I like it :) My cousin's middle name is William and he's 24 and one of OHs friends in Billy and he's 18. I think it's one of those names that will be in every generation.

I don't think he'll get called Willy unless loads of people encourage it. If he's Billy to you, thats who he'll be to everyone.

It's ok. I know a few Williams. One of them is our neighbour. :flower:

thanks for all your comments again ladies. i have had even more negative comments, one lady said (without me even mentioning that william/billy was on our list) "oh dont call him billy will you, everyone will call him silly billy". she said that one of her friends had called her son that and really regretted it. i know i shouldnt worry about other peoples opinions but it would be nice if people liked your childs name! oh is dead set on billy though and i am struggling to be able to discuss the fact that i am not so set on it without upsetting him. naming a little person is sooooo hard! xxxx

my little boy is william and i chose it because although it is an old fashioned name there arent that many williams around really well i dont know many. its a great name x

I really like William- it is my first choice for a boy - juts trying to persuade DH. He likes Wills so William would be ideal as then he can call him Wills

I like it :) not too sure on Billy i'd shorten it to Will but each to their own :D

My son is called William :D We shorten it to Will, but it is a good strong traditional name.... I am pretty sure it has always been popular, so you will probably find he has a few other Williams in his class, but if you are shortening it to Billy then it may be more unique x

I love it and it was one of our names, but a good friend has a "Will", a friend from school has a William and a friend of my sis has a William too. Wouldn't be a prob if we hadn't chosen another name as I only really see the friend who has a Will.
