Please can anyone help....?

I have claimed any working tax credits and am due my first baby in May.

I am looking at my occupational Vs Staturatory maternity allowances and would very much like to leave work and not come back but they make it almost impossible to do that as the occupational is over £3k more for the year. Is there a way I can bump it up with tax credits?

How do they work?

Thanks.

Sorry... dont have an answer to your question but have one regarding your post.. can you claim working tax credits before the baby is due? If you can i've been losing out on money lol. xx

You can claim WTC if you're over 25 ^

If you have no wage then yes, you'll get some child tax credits depending on your OHs wage. If he earns lots you don't get much at all.

I don't think I'll be entitled to much... it's such a shame, I really don't want to return to work but it's been made almost impossible for me to do otherwise!

I want to be a stay at home mum!

for stay at home mum's whose partner/OHs earn a good wage, there's not a lot they can claim for!
It doesn't pay to be a SAHM!!!!!
xxx

im a sahm and hubby works full time he gets 24,750k before taxes and we get £38 child tax credits every 4 weeks and £80 child benefit every 4 weeks. its not much but it helps, my money will go up again when 2nd baby arrives but not until then so i doubt u could get it before lo arrives .x.
