Evening ladies,

well its been a bit of a bad weekend for me, ended up in hospital after a bleed but after an emergency scan on monday morning bubba was spotting healthly and well - sonographer thinks it may have been implanation bleeding. I'm dated at 9 weeks 3 days!!!

Now my dilema...... before we found out we were expecting we booked a 2 week holiday to egypt, I'll be 14/15 weeks when we fly. Now completely panicing as midwife wouldnt say one way or another whether we should go or not.

If we cancel we would lose all our money (over £1500) which is a lot of money to us. Any suggestions or advice from people who have travelled would be very much appreciated.

Thanks again x x

Hi Curlie

Just wanted to say that I am glad that you and little bubba are okay.

If you decide to go on holiday, have a fab time you lucky thing xx

Hi Curlie

Congrats on your pg and glad LO is ok and healthy.

Sorry to read of your holiday dilemma.

You should be ok to fly as long as you feel comfortable. I dont think airlines will fly women who are 36 wks plus, but you should be ok when your due to fly.

However there may be some vaccinations you need to go to Egypt, so i would check ASAP as im not sure whether you can have all of them why your pg. My df went a few years back and needed 5 different vaccs.

It would be a shame if you could not go as it would be alot of money to loose. Speak to your doctor about the vaccines and risks of flying when pg.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you get it sorted.

If not, could you sell the tickets at all?

You'll be fine - I've done lots of reading on this as I fly to LA at Easter and will be 9 weeks. You just need to do what you would on any flight to avoid DVT and try to get near a loo if youre still feeling sicky! Just check out the vaccinations though.

hi hun, if you havent already then take out travel insurance, that way if you have to cancel you will get your ££ back. u should be ok thou i m flying to tunisia in may and i will be 30 weeks when we come home and thats all been approved,, enjoy your hols if you go and just relax

You can only claim cancellation though if you are ordered not to fly by a Dr - you cant make that call as far as the insurance is concerned.

Oh yes and if you have annual insurance check it covers pregnancy - some dont.

If everything is going ok with the pregnancy, travelling at 14/15 weeks should be no problem at all. Actually, it might be really good for you to have a lovely holiday -- just take time to relax there and enjoy it, don't pack in too many activities. I just had a week in Thailand (at 9 weeks) and it was just what I needed: sun, beach, palm trees, fresh fruit juices, and a stack of good books :)

I travelled at 16 weeks on a long haul flight to Las Vegas. I would only say that it is very important that you get an aisle seat. I puffed out my stomach so I looked as preggars as possible when I went to the ticket counter, and told them I would love the seats with the extra room. They were very accomodating. And I got travel insurance as well, so that if anything happened, I would be covered. Have a fantastic time!

Good to hear that everything is ok with the LO. When I talked to my GP about flying she said that there really are no risks involved, especially in the first and second trimester. She told me to just make sure I exercised my legs regularly to keep blood clots from forming. I'm sure you will be fine flying!
