A quick history check..

6+5 weeks. Bleeding and no heartbeat

8 weeks. Normal scan with regular heartbeat

12+2 weeks scan yesterday

After trying to do an abdominal scan for approx 15 minutes and asking me to cough numerous times the sonographer asked me to empty my bladder so she could do an internal scan..

She mentioned the couldn't measure the baby as baby was completely curled up and she couldn't get the length or see facial features

Again she asked me to cough a couple of times but baby wasn't budging, she said baby was just asleep in an awkward position and wouldn't move but I can't help but worry something isn't right

Try not to worry. They would say if something was wrong, they wouldn't hide it from you and leave you to guess. I know it's hard but try not to stress over it as it won't be good for you or baby. Will they rescan you?

yeah I suppose they wouldn't, they are re scanning me in 8 weeks.. Thinking of getting a private scan in the mean time

I'm sorry you were left feeling so worried. :( How was the heartbeat?

I agree, try not to worry - there must have been a heartbeat for them to keep asking you to cough because they only did that to get baby to move into a better position for them to do their measurements.

When I had one of my scans with one of my DS's, they made me go to the loo and then tipped the bed up to try to get my LO to move :)

Thank you Isme, she didn't say anything about the heart except there's its heartbeat  looking over notes for any detail I can compare. She did say that my cervix was facing backwards maybe this has something to do with it

They wouldn't leave you 8 weeks if they were unsure baby was ok honestly. Id defo go for the private scan for reassurence though if your really worried.

They're rescanning you in 8 weeks?? If they haven't been able to get all the measurements they needed, they need to rescan you now. I'd phone and point that out. I'm assuming you're in the UK? Don't let them make you wait until the 20 week scan, that's not on!

Oh, but I do think they would have said if they suspected any problems. But still, get onto them to give you another scan! Did they manage an nt measurement?

Welcome to the world of stubborn babies and ultrasounds. It is frustrating but thankfully that really isn't cause for alarm. My son was always giving them issues during and I had to have way too many ultrasounds because of it lol. He is a healthy 1 year old boy now.

I had this at our 12 week scan. Baby wouldn't move. I did coughing, pelvic thrusts and emptied bladder. WE were almost at the point oh giving up when she moved. I'm sure that the scanner said I would have to come back the following week to have another go. Def not leaving it til the 20 week scan. X

I had the same thing happen at my 20 week scan yesterday wiggled bounced jumped tilted on my side all sorts but she couldnt get hardly any measurements I have to go back in 2 weeks, I would phone and ask for an earlier appointment 8 weeks is a long time to wait but at the same time they cant be overly worried if they are willing to wait that long :flower:

I was asked to cough at the 12 week scan of my now 22-month-old son. He was also in an awkward position. No luck.

They sent me away and told me to have a coffee and come back in an hour and baby was now in easier position to measure. All good and come back in 8 weeks.

I am certain that if they had any concerns they would have you back sooner than the 20w scan xoxox

My daughter I had to do star jumps, tilted upside down and had to go have a fizzy drink and a walk for 20mins to get her to move for measurements etc at both my 12 week & 20 week scan :dohh:

My son was co-operative tho!

I am very surprised they are leaving you 8 weeks to scan again tho when they couldn't get measurements etc I would have thought they would get you back in a week later - I would follow up on this with my midwife or GP if I were you

:hugs:

She said they don't measure nuchal fluid as that is a specialist scan... Having a private scan Monday
