i have suffered with night times cramps, but not really full blown since a week ago, have just woken in the night feeling like its going to happen but have relaxed and its eased off

today though my left calf is achy, twinges on and off

do i need to get checked out today, or ok to see mw as arranged tomorrow

what do you think ladies?

Thanks

When you press it in does it feel hard? Ask someone else to press both calves and compare them to each other - i would say if it feels hard then go get some help at tthe hospital, better to be safe than sorry. Otherwise elevate it and ring MW for advice. x

Last time I got cramp my calf was sore for two days :haha:
They both felt the same as well.
Might be just your muscle not having such a good time...

i woke up with a leg cramp 3 days ago and my calf is just starting to feel better. my husband plays lots of sports and he says that its normal for it to be sore for a while after...

I worry about this all the time (I'm a hypochrondriac :haha:) and after many times of panicing and googling for symptoms, I've come to the conclusion that when I get calf pain, I should check the temperature of the painful area (if it was a clot / dvt it would feel hot) then I would flex the foot (bringing the toes towards me, apparently it would be painful if its a clot). I usually find that I have neither of this symptoms and can then relax

I got a cramp in my left calf two days ago and it's still sore . This thread makes me feel a bit better I was starting to worry .

Worry got better of me and when phoned they said to come in? Waiting to be seen x

Im a nurse and the symptoms of a DVT in your leg would be:

Calf is hot to touch (back of hand)
Calf is red (localised)
Calf is hard to touch (localised)

If it is not all three of those things, then its unlikely to be a dvt

:)

If that was the case, seek medical attention asap to have anti-coagulation therapy to break up the clot. They will diagnose a DVT with either a simple clinical inspection if its obvious, or, more likely, using a doppler (to listen to see whether vein is blocked in any way)

They are fairly rare!!!!! More likely a muscle cramp / spasm xxxx

Thanks hope so. Sure it Will too but didn't want a Night of worrying. Takes an hour to get here so what a waste of time for me prob just being paranoid :)

Its not a waste to put your mind at rest and its better to be safe than sorry :hugs: Let us know how you get on xxxx

Its much better to see them, no professional would be willing to make a diagnosis over the telephone. So even if they're not particularly worried, they would ask you to come in anyway just to be 100 percent and err on the side of caution :) So dont worry :)

xx

Ahh I am terrible with any kind of calf pain, as I had a DVT 8 years ago which broke off and went to my lung! I thought I had just pulled the muscle in my leg so put off going to see anyone for 2 days.... until a friend who is a nurse said it could be a DVT.... I felt silly going to my Dr for a bit of pain in my leg, but once they found the clot in my leg, then the Pulmonary Embolism in my lung I was pretty relieved to say the least! If I hadnt gone in when I did, I could have died!

Please dont feel silly for getting checked out and hope all is OK  xx

I had to go in yesterday, as I had ruptured a vein in my leg and they were worried it could have been DVT. Thankfully, so far it looks like just a localised problem. Always best to get these things checked out if in doubt. Good luck x x
