Hello and welcome :hi:

I am the same, due my first in 3 weeks and hoping to have as natural a birth as possible. I'm a little apprehensive too but quite adamant I don't want any drugs.

Have you had a look over in the Home and Natural Birthing section? Loads of info/advice and support in there.

Hope to share your journey...

hey ladies I'm due monday!! Eeekkkkk!!!

So far so good with pregnancy but had a worry appt today suspected pre clampsia as swelling protien in pee and high blood pressure 132/91.
Have midwife calling me for a home visit so a bit worried but least it's been picked up and I'm being looked after.

I can't wait to have the gas and air open to pethadine but not to keen on epdurial but if need be will have one.

Good luck keep in touch xxx

I had my son naturally with only gas & air and it went great! I used the gas & air mostly as a focal point for breathing since the mask made my breathing sound really loud; I loved that! I never actually inhaled deeply enough to feel any effects (until the very end by accident and then I was like "Ohhhhhh so this is what it's supposed to do!"). I didn't like the loopy feeling that I got from inhaling too much because I felt a bit removed from the whole situation but I really did love having that mask to hold onto and use. :)

Good luck to you!! I know there's a lot of scary birth stories out there but they're not all bad. The pain will end and you'll be alive at the end of it. :) Just work with your body and breathe/push when you feel like it; your body knows what to do and you just have to trust it!

As Lucy says its important to remember that the pain that comes from childbirth will end once baby is here.

All you can do is take each moment as it happens and cope with it as you go on. I had natural births tried gas and air first time hated it, so never used it 2nd time or the first time really after I tried it. You will be just fine. I am so excited for you.

yeah Dont fight the pain hun as hard as it is try to relax the muscles through your body when a contraction hits dont tense up if you can help it caus it will work agasint you if you pull all those muscles tight, each pain is one less till baby is born
