So been having BH since about 22 weeks. Started off with belly tightening, then getting breathless when they started. Lately I have been getting what feels like period pains with them in my belly and lower back. I was woken up last night by one because it was so painful!. Practiced my hypnobirthing breathing and it calmed down but wow did that hurt!

Doesn't help little madam seems to be head down and occasionally smacking my cervix, which also really hurts. Everything is hurting now, i constantly feel breathless and having really bad dizzy spells and i cant believe i still have 6 weeks to go. Wish it would hurry up - i feel useless!

I take it they will only get worse - which makes me worry how i will cope with labour! Birth plan may go out the window!! :haha:

My BH have started to hurt now, and become somewhat more frequent (going from two or three BH a week to at least one a day). I'm 37 weeks tomorrow, so I'm hoping the increase in BH is the start of something!

i hate braxtons!

at 1st i wondered how could women confuse them as labour?? hen i figured it out, they can really really hurt!! there are times the only reason ive not went to hospital is because they are irregualr when timed! lol

I am really not enjoying these! They really are taking my breath away and some are really strong! Keep feeling like I need a poo but cant go! Not looking forward to 6 more weeks of this, especially as I just cant concentrate right now! Should be working but just feeling completely distracted.

Hmmmm, have you tried timing them hun..... If they are increasing in intensity then you would be wise to time them.... Usually BH will go if you try & walk them off or drink some water, if your BH don't die down then i'd ring MW just to be on the safe side :)

I dont want to scare you but it's always worth being a bit careful xx

I may try walking down to the post box, see if that helps. Not tried timing. Theres constant period pain aches, but sometimes they peak. Lots of sharp pains in my cervix too. Problem is I want her to come early (not this early though) so think i am seeing things that arent there.

I had painful braxton hicks a few nights ago, every 4-5mins but they stopped when i got into bed as usual lol. x

Are they regular or timeable? The only time I had painful BH was when I was waitressing and dehydrated but they should go away. If the pain is increasing in intensity and not going away I think it'd be a good idea to call your doc.

Well just come back from a 15 minute walk, no change :nope:

Constant feeling of period type pain in belly and lower back, sometimes getting quite painful. Sharp pains in cervix occasionally too. Plus baby is moving about a lot and its quite uncomfortable as belly seems to be hard.

Contractions shouldn't be constant they come and go in a very timeable pattern. But honestly if they are getting that painful and not going away maybe you should make a call to your doc just to be safe. Try a warm bath and drinking lots of water also to see if they go away.

I dont think they are contractions, just constant period type pains that sometimes peak. Had a bath earlier but didnt do much. May try again.

I'm a BH machine. I was the same last pregnancy too. Triggered by just about anything especially walking, not drinking enough and having a full bladder!! Lol.

Mine are the same tho, just starting to get really painful now. At night they bring with them period pain and back ache. Sometimes they also seem to press into my butt and give me that needing to poop feeling. They ALWAYS make me feel like I can't breathe! Which is awful, I'm sick of feeling like I'm suffocating.

I have a highly monitored pregnancy tho and they are 100% Braxton hicks. I find my night time waves of them don't get better until I eat breakfast in the morning. I was in hospital once and had them every 8 mins right down to every 3-4mins from 1am to 8am. It was torture!!! Then they magically stopped when I ate breakfast. The doctors would ask "are they painful" and I'm like "yes!!! They suck!!!!"

Well they calmed down a bit. Still achey but not as bad and lots of shooting pains in my cervix.

Its actually quite draining - would it be bad to go to bed at 7pm on a Friday night???

lol not at all! may as well make the most outta bed while we still can!
