I take amitriptyline (sp) 75 mg at night to help me sleep. I was recommended this by a consultant psychiatrist at a maternity hospital here in Dublin. Previously, I was on seroxat and something else I can't remember as I suffer from depression and anxiety and when I told my GP about trying for a baby two years ago, then having a m/c at 7-8 wks, she recommended I see this psychiatrist who agreed with taking the above. I discussed this with my GP when I became pregnant again as whatever risks outweigh the benefit of me actually sleeping. I'm now 15wks+3 and am hopeful, but I think that if your doctor knows you are pregnant and determines that the level of medication is appropriate for you (and you alone), that is the most important thing at all. I think mellybelle and alaura9 are absolutely right - we're scared enough not to be stressed about other people's reactions! and kudos to both for their honesty!
