My favourite subject :smug: shame I'm on Atkins:cry:

So Indulge me with your favourite xmas foods

Do you do a 'big shop' ? If so when? Does it cost much more than your normal shop?

How overboard do you go?

Do you have any xmas traditions food wise?

:D

Some of our traditions are like always having dates around and lots of nuts! I love getting the nut cracker out and making a mess hehe!

I try and carry these on now I have my own children :)

I go mega overboard :dohh: We do our big shop a few days before Christmas and go back on Xmas eve for stuff that goes off quickly like cream, milk, bread, some veggies etc etc. Marks and Spencers too :D Costs us a fortune but it's only once a year. We probably spend triple the amount we usually do.

I got the waitrose christmas book yesterday OMG I put on about 2stone looking at it!

Brady butter straight out the fridge just on its own ohh umm haha x

We do our shop on xmas eve morning and yes we go way overboard

i get my meat from our local butcher we get a big piece of beef and pork x dont like turkey

xmas eve we all sit down watch santa clause the film with a nice hot choc and some cookies then sing xmas songs till the kids go to bed at 7

In the weeks leading upto xmas i add extra things in my trolley like pickled onions, crackers, nibbles etc anything that doesn't go out of date quick, then i do my normal weekly shop as usual adding any xmas food items i've not bought yet the days leading upto xmas and on xmas eve i buy my items that go out of date quickly. We go to my dad's or mil's for xmas dinner so i don't need to buy that and sometimes we are out again on boxing day, but i like to have stuff in for snacks, we usually end up having a lot of buffet type tea's over xmas sat watching films on tv, i'm getting excited just thinking about xmas lol x

<3 xmas food, we are getting a hamper from park this year. have started my cake!! its gunna get faiths nanny drunk my the time im done with it. all the sweets!!! eurghhhh yummy yummy xmas food...... CANT WAIT

We get our turkey crown from the butchers, and my gran picks it up on xmas eve but for everything else we shop on the 23rd and just pile every little thing we fancy in. It costs a bomb but hey you need to indulge at Christmas:haha:

This will be our first Christmas period at home (we went up North on Boxing Day last year) and I think hubby is going to get a duck again (I'm veggie so usually make something like tartlets). Tbh I'll probs get treats when I see them cheap in the run-up and then just add the Christmas day stuff to our normal online order. I'll probs get party foods for Boxing Day like cheese and onion rolls, chips & dips, houmous etc and raid M&S for some special things :)

Lots of booze and tins of sweets!

My parents are always away on hol so they bring bottles back and its stored for xmas, we always get the huge tins of sweets too, like 4! I have quite a big family and theres always people in the house.

The biggest xmas we had there was 17 of us!

my mum and dad always get tins of roses that you're not allowed to open til xmas eve  xmas puds, rum butter, pigs in blankets, my fave...sprouts :D scrambled egg, toast and smoked salmon for breckie!! love it! was lookin thru marks's xmas food thing today omg i was starvin by the end! but 50quid for a turkey

I start buying Christmas food as soon as i can .. like some things that can keep (like crackers for cheese) im getting now.
I go way over board and i still feel the need to 'stock up' a few days before hand like my mum did when i was little and all the shops actually shut for a week or two over Christmas.
I have to have a lovely big Ham to bake, all the cakes, sweets and chocs i can get my hands on, loads of Cheese, crackers, cold meats, Roast dinner things, salad things ... oooh i love Christmas!

 i buy hardly any extra food but thats only because we go to my inlaws and they buy TONNES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! of everything and they usually give us stuff to take back to ours..

my MILs usual thing is 'oh ive bought these tins of sweets but if i eat them ill get fat so why dont you take them'

We normally go abit overboard and usually its all left for ages after xmas!!!!

We dont chage our shop , just one week add a tin of chocs and a few biccies and thats it :D

Christmas food to me is a MASSIVE cheeseboard!

I love cheese - this year it will be minus the brie, stilton and camembert though. No pate either!

I shall just have to make up for it with mince pies and cream :D

Oh this year i am going to get the meat and desert and bits and bobs from marks and spencers:D i love there food ! and the rest of what i need in asda:D

I dont really do a big shop just for christmas either. . .Iv been adding the occasional biscuit tin or crackers etc to my trolley since July if they'll keep  but anything else I wont bother.

We generally get our Turkey and Veggies from M&S as my mum works there and gets discount

We always do a big shop a few days before. Usually consists of many tins of Chocs, Mince Pies, Nuts and whatever else we see
