xx 15th Sept 2012 Baby Group xx

Hi everyone, I check here on my phone but it is hard to write from there. How is everyone doing? Things are going pretty good here. We had some issues with formula that we had to work out but now I have a happy baby so that is good.

It is amazing to me how much they can change daily. Isaiah has been smiling for a while now but he has started laughing a little bit too only when we tickle him which seems to be his favorite game (tickle monster). When I hold him I make faces at him and he has started copying me by sticking out his tongue when I stick mine out at him, it is pretty cute.

I had a day where he was awake all day and then a day where he was asleep pretty much all day. But it seems like he is now sleeping more regularly. I was a bit of a bad mommy last night though. I was pretty tired and he just wasn't going to sleep none of the tricks that I do were working. So I fed him, changed him and put him in his bed ( which is in our room) He was laying in there happily kicking around and moving his arms. So I laid down on the bed and fell asleep (oops) and I have no idea what time he fell asleep at but he never cried and when he finally did it was 6 hours later. I am glad he fell asleep on his own but it was a bit hard on me knowing he just laid there without me. I know I know new mom problems lol.

Breastfeeding group is just a group for a couple of hours to go and speak to people etc to socialise and also people are there to ask for advice, etc. it's quite a nice little group.

My lo has started becoming a lot more animated, he loves his play mat, he's currently cooing and talking away to it now, he doesn't sleep muc during the day which is good but not for me when I want a little sleep! He's started smiling for me too, my oh tried to make him but he doesn't yet, don't think it wil be long though!

Nice to see that all our babies are hitting similar milestones :) Our lo has started to smile at us too and it totally melts my heart:cloud9:

Looking forward to going to a bf group sometime soon! Thanks for the info numero_uno.

Awww can't wait for some giggles, we have smiles too. I've started putting her down whether she is asleep or awake. Last night she wiggled about for a while but did self settle which is great, I'd like her to stay that way because I know how hard it is to get them to fall asleep on their own when they are older.

I'm thinking of trying a anti reflux milk, we've been prescribed a thickener but I'd rather not have to mess about adding to the milk and just make it as usual.

Went for 6 week post natal check last week and dr said 1 in 100 condoms fail arghhhhh scared me. She thinks I should consider mirena coil. Confuzzled! She's sending me to breast clinic with my lump because it changes in size throughtout my cycle she thinks it's a cyst fibrocystic disease or something but need to get it checked.

So Isaiah has started sleeping pretty much through the night. I put him down at bedtime and he either falls right asleep or plays for a bit and then goes to sleep. But now it seems like he isn't sleeping during the day. He naps if we go on car rides but at home I can't get more than a few 1 hour long naps out of him. He doesn't really fall asleep when fed anymore. Sometimes when he is playing he falls asleep for 30 minutes or so. Should I now start him on a regular schedule of naptimes and how many. He doesn't get to fussy during the day, he pretty much eats, plays, laughs and babbles happily.

I'm now starting to try and get my lo into a routine, last night we tried to out him down in his Moses basket and we were up and down the stairs every time his dummy fell out, he finaly went sleep about 10pm and then up at 2.30 and then 5 and then up properly at 8.15am. I'm looking forward to when he sleeps longer between feeds, he's almost 6 weeks so over the next few weeks we will hopefully see a difference!

Hey girlies,

Sorry i havnt been on in a while, been having a stressful time but everything is ok now.

Ds2 had Tonsilitis which he gets quite alot he was really chesty too, then Arabella started getting chesty, we took her to hospital where she was diaognosed with brochiolitis but they said not too bad and she came home. The next night she was still struggling to breathe and had abit of a temperature we rung nhsdirect to ask their advice. They insisted on an abulance and we had a little blue light trip to resus. She was on oxygen and tube fed for a couple of days but she did brilliantly and came out on Tuesday. She still has a terrible cough but is so much better.

Then today i had my appointment with the breast clinic about my lump, they said its fibrocystic change, just a hormonal change and may just stay there or may go but nothing to worry about :)

Heres hoping for some better luck now........ hope you and baba's are all doing great xxx

Well I am sure glad to hear she came out ok. Also glad to hear your ok. Things are going good. I have an almost 3 month old now. He has been sleeping well. Started drooling and chewing on things. Down side is he might have an inguinal hernia that we are getting looked at.

Wanting, glad to hear things are looking up for you. That's not fun at all! Extra scary when drs and hospitals are involved. I can mildly relate somewhat as I had stupid prolonged bleeding that lasted forever, then had several issues with clogged ducts, followed by an infection in my finger from a hangnail (yes, you heard right-a hangnail!) which required antibiotics. It was just one thing after the next and found myself saying, "I just want to enjoy my baby without constantly worrying about myself!"

Sunnydaze, hope your LO is okay. My dh had a double hernia when he was less than a year and had it removed without incident. He's been fine ever since :)

So since this group was set up to ask questions, share info, etc. I have a question for you ladies. I seem to have a fussy baby on my hands who is rarely happy for longer than 5 minutes. He'll sit on my lap shortly, then cry, play with his jungle gym shortly, then cry. He only seems content when sleeping or if I carry him around which is rough on my arms and make for a looong day. Is this normal for a two month old?? A personality thing? Am I doing something wrong? I just want our baby to be happy.

At 2 months LO was mostly content to be on his own for a while. In his chair, swing,or playing on the floor...he hated and still does tummy time. Unless he is hungry or dirty he is content. Unless he is growing. It might just be a personality thing. He might also just love being with momma which is though. I doubt your doing anything wrong. Babies pretty much do what they want. LO decided he didn't want to sleep through the night for a few days, then went right back to it.

Hi everyone, just checked on here, not been on for a bit. All our babies see to be growing up! My little man looks so grown up these days and he's only 8 weeks! I was breastfeeding but have stopped due to not feelin comfortable doing it in public so he is on formula now, seems to e doing ok but I'm struggling to work out when he needs feeding and to go nd sort a bottle quick! I'm sure we will get the, it seems to have messed his routine a little too, he's not slept very well this week so maybe it's bottles or maybe that's just cos he's growing into a little person and no longer newborn!

Sunnydaze, hope Lo is ok? Hope the hernia app goes aswell as and everything fine.

Paris, exactly what I was thinking just want to enjoy my baby not be thinking what going on with me!

Ds2 was rarely happy too and to be honest neither is dd she quiet when she's asleep she only sits contently for short bursts before crying, she'd eat all day if I let her but mostly it's just for comfort.

Número, might just take LO time to adjust to bottle but I'm sure he'll be just find when he gets used to it.

How big are everyone's lo's now, I have a very chunky little girl she 10wks and weighs 12lb13oz!!!!! She's a pound off doubling her birth weight. Mine have been the same with weight little chunkies with huge chubby cheeks!!!

Thanks for the suggestions Sunnydaze. As mama's don't we all feel a little better when we are told it's likely that we are not doing anything wrong!

Numero, I thought the same thing about my lo (looking so grown up) until today when we went for family photos. LO was sat in a cute little chair with a teddy bear kept falling over! Made me realize he is smaller than we think he is...

Wanting, our babies sound very similar, lol! Mine could eat all day long too and at his 8 week appointment weighed 12lb10oz  Oh my! But I'll take a chubby baby any day so it's all good. I've been reassured that he'll slim out as he grows.

My lo weighs 11lb 6 oz now, he's 8 weeks, he was 7lb7oz born. Hes really long so the baby grows are starting to get too small but 3-6 months will be massive! We had a more settled night last night although I have trouble falling back asleep when I feed him in the middle of the night, anyone got any tips? I ended up having an argument with oh cos I was getting frustrated about sleeping!

Last week Isaiah was 12lbs 9 Oz so I'm sure he is 13lbs by now or will be soon. He is almost 3 months old! I do have a tummy time question. LO hates it, screams bloody murder, does anyone else have this issue? What have you done.

It depends on the mood of my lo if he likes it or not. I often lie him on me or my oh and he seems to like tummy time more this way

I have to ask you ladies....

Do you feel like other mom's have it more "together" than you? Lately, when I read up on routines and schedules it seems as though many parents have it all worked out. Their baby naps at the same time every day, eats on a schedule and they appear to have everything so, well, organized. It makes me feel like a bit of a mess! :dohh:

Just to set the record straight, I fully understand that my baby is only 3 months old, that I currently enjoy feeding on demand and putting him down for a nap as I see fit but it doesn't stop me from thinking, "Am I doing something wrong??"

Moreover, lately my baby has been sleeping worse instead of better! He's now managing to wake up every 2 hours during the night  Perhaps it's a growth spurt?

Out of curiosity, does anyone else feel this way?

Have to be honest, I've tried tummy time once!!! She was ok with it but I just forget to do it.

Paris, I actually feel more organised than I have ever been in my entire life BUT I have to be!!! I certainly wasn't when I had my first or second tbh. All of a sudden things will just start falling into place for both your routines, might be tomorrow might be months, I'd just go with the flow for now, don't worry your certainly not doing anything wrong just all babies are completely different xxx

Are we all ready for Christmas? Me being my super organised self have been all bought and wrapped for a week now! I have no idea where this organised me has come from, I swear it's something to do with having a girl, I had the most intense nesting this time and it just seems to of stayed with me! Either that or I'm getting a little OCD in my old age! X

My lo is a little younger than yours but I don't have a routine either, he seems to be going bed at around 9pm now and waking at around the same times for feeding but some days he gets up earlier than others, like last night he went back at 8 but tonight he's back to his usual bottle around 8-8.30 so just going with the flow!

I can't wait for him to sleep longer between feeds now, he's 11 weeks old now so hopefully should be happening soon!

Yah can't wait for Christmas now, I also have everything wrapped and ready, I keep trying to guess presents, haha ill never grow up, I get super excited at Christmas!

Me too, I can't wait for Christmas Day, it's over way too fast!
