Your chosen formula?

We're using Earth's Best Organic formula. We've only been using it since Saturday but so far so good!

We started on Aptamil as like everyone else it's marketed as the closest to breast milk. He then became constipated going 4/5 days without a poo, he had terrible wind we just thought this was to do with the constipation but he was really crying with pain and going red in the face, tensing up his whole body. We tried him on all the colic drops thinking it was trapped wind, the only difference they made was explosive nappies.

Yesterday we decided to change his milk, went with Hipp Organic. Even from just 24 hours he is like a different baby, very content, less wind, no red face crying, looks like the Aptamil didn't agree with him.

I use cow and gate from birth and no problems. My health visitor told me a strange fact (she is also the bf councillor) that cow and gate and aptimal are EXACTLY the same formula! made by the same company, they market it very cleverly to aim at the colicy/hungry baby market. Unless you buy the comfort milk or hungry baby there isnt any difference in stage 1 cow and gate and stage 1 aptimal (except for the price!)

You know I decided to try a different milk today and picked C&G over our usual Aptimel and when I showed mu husband and said I wasn't sure he asked why cause theynare exacy the same, same packaging, same size, same ingrediants, same ready made cartoons so what was my problem?
Then to pop on hear and read this made us both laugh!!

well my los been on a few lol when first born she was on c &g stage one she puked every where then about 2 weeks later i put her on c & g comfort and she was doing great for around 3 months till she started puking again and wouldent drink her bottles i then put her on hipp organic stage one and had no problem ive just brought stage 2 abit late i know but oh insisted lol im sure she will do fine on that 2 xx

Started LO on SMA - vomited bottles regularly back up. Think it is far too heavy for newborns so wouldn't recommend it.
HV suggested C&G Comfort for colic and constipation - dont know when on earth as he never had problem with constipation. He hated this as it was very thick and caused terrible wind (helps some babies though)
Never tried Aptamil but it is the same company / manufacturer of C&G just more expensive. Plus read here the other day about contaminated formula power so put me off that even more.
We have been using since about 5 weeks Hipp Organic First Milk (then hungry baby one) with no problems at all - he loves it and had less wind on it. Would recommend this one as it has been great. It is hard to get in some shops but they deliver online for same price direct from Hipp or through supermarkets.
Just my opinions but worked fine for us. Plus Tommee Tippee bottles have been great.

Enfamil Gentlease.

nothing else will work for him.

Used SMA with Earl, and will be using it to begin with for the new one and see how we get on. They're all much of a muchness so it's down to personal choice and availability. Make sure your local shops stock the one you choose, so that you have a ready supply.

Cow and gate for us.. my baby was a bit pukey at 4-5 weeks i thought maybe it wa sthe milk changed her to sma .. had nothing but problems ,,, ended up in hospital with her over non stop screaming. changed her back to cow and gate and she was perfect. Will never use anything else.

All first milk formula is the same in terms of basic ingredients. It has to be by law. So no formula is better for your baby than any other. The only difference between them are the blends of omega 3's and the prebiotics. Aptamil and Cow and Gate are not exactly the same therefore but one is not better than the other IYKWIM. I have personally always used aptamil as that what they gave in the hospital and it has always been great for us so have seen no reason to change.

I'm using SMA, but i think it's really only because it's made in my home county and is what everyone in my family used!

We use Aptimal; in NICU, he started on Aptimal and tried SMA (which is thicker?), but he was refusing to feed -- turns out he needed the larger teat; once that was done (size 2, not newborn), he became (and is) a little piggo and came home the next day!

I would suggest that your sister not buy too much of anything as LO sometimes have a mind of their own-- my LO only likes NUK wide bottles and the Tommy Tippee set bought beforehand was never used (to my husband's 'annoyance')...

best wishes

Oh I didnt think about the actual bottles .My sister wanted to get the closer to nature ones, but come to think of it my son used to like the NUK teats too so we had to change his boots bottles to NUK teats, after I melted my expensive bottles in the steriliser!
Thanks for your input :flower:

The closer to nature ones I found rubbish to be honest - we are on Avent anti colic at the min but are trying to get bigger teats for our doctor brown bottles. We started on SMA but he was terrible with wind so we swapped to cow and gate and he improved loads unfortunately he seems to be going back down the wind path so I may have to try aptamil

My LO is on Aptamil. She started on their first milk. She was a little colicky, so switch to their comfort milk and she has been great since. Never had a days problem with it and would recommend and use it again for the next one!!
