oooh...looking forward to this thread I love looking at wedding cakes, even though not even thought about ours yet!!

We had a 4 tier cake 3 tiers of fruit and 1 of sponge. It was amazing. Luckily we didn't have to pay for it as MIL made it for us!

I wasnt having a cake until 3 weeks ago as I ordered cupcakes, but now just having my deposits worth of cupcakes too! My grandads making it, he used to make cakes years ao so should be interesting!

lovely cakes, i want three tier, one chocolate, one sponge and one fruit, want it kinda simple with our family tartan and thisles on it, we're having a scottish theme, a friend is hopefully going to make it so wont cost us much at all, if that falls through going to get tiers from M&S and decorate myself.

this is ours. But we are having black ribbon instead. Ours is costing £195 and its a belgian choc tier, lemon drizzle, coffee and walnut and sponge with filling.

i got this tin as my mum is doing my cake they are 10cm by 12cm we are having 30 of them and not sure on the dec yet think they will be white and red with roses on top and we are having a top cake for cutting

i had 3 seperate cakes, all cappicino colour to match my dress with mine n ohs initials in the corner, icing roses in the other and tartan ribbon round the egde. our cakes were a wedding present from my ohs mates mum, shes great at making cakes they were gorgeous.
12inch cake was chocolate sponge
8inch was plain
6inch was classic wedding sponge

we had a simple 3 tier cake from marks and spensers what my sister decroated with snowflakes whole cake cost us just under £70 as were ona budget

We had 5 tiers. We rented the stand from a wee shop in glasgow, our florist did the flowers, we bought the bride and groom topper, the ribbon was from the kilt shop and the cakes from M&S or tesco range.
It cost under £100. The one i originally wanted was similar but cost £400.

omg thats great which shop did you buy the stand an such from? i'm glasgow myself and having a scottish theme wedding, having hard time finding family tartan ribbon

It's a wee shop called congratulations on Shettleston road, in Shettleston. They had quite a few nice ones and a book of pics showing them being used
The ribbon was from gilt edged in the trongate, they had a good selection if you haven't tried them yet Our tartan and ribbon are very, very slightly different but when it was put together, the effect was of an exact match.

thanks will check them out been advised to try the kilt shop in that end to hire our kilts so will see
