Hi ladies,

These are the pictures I got from my 12-week scan, where the baby was measuring 12+2 weeks.

Any guesses on gender based on the nub or skull? It's not a great nub-shot unfortunately. I was thinking girl as it looks more like my daughter's nub shot than my son's (and the skull shape is similar), but who knows. Will find out in a few weeks.

I'm leaning more towards boy because of both theories... but I'm almost never right lol.

Still guessing girl! I can't make out a nub though, but I'm bad at this. I just have a girl feeling for you

early girl but time for development

Guessing boy for you, looks like a hint of stacking inpic 1 :)

Thanks ladies for all your guesses :)

I am relatively inexperienced with this stuff. I remember looking a lot at nun shots when I was pregnant with my daughter, but not since.

Just to check. Is this the nub?

Or this faint shadow? I didn't think this was part of it as it isn't attached at the base, there's a gap between baby's torso and whatever that shadow is.

I was trying to look during scan, but it all went so quick. The head shape was pretty rounded in the scan - a lot more like the second pic than the first. Is that a boy or girl thing? I can't remember! During the scan the sonographer also swept over potty shot area as he was checking bladder and legs; I know at this stage they look so similar, but it looked like a hamburger shot between the legs, rather than sticking out, but I'm sure they all look like that at this stage! :haha:

I am happy to be having a baby full stop as this has been a huge slog for us, but I would prefer a girl for the reason that my son is autistic and I am very scared of having another autistic child. It's more prevalent in boys and I would feel a bit more anxiety if I knew it was another boy. I will of course get over it in time and will love this baby no matter what happens as much as I love my son and daughter. It would just make life a bit harder to have another autistic child. Of course though, we knew the possibility was there before we started TTC two years ago, so we are prepared for anything.

I'm having a gender scan in just over 2 weeks at 16 weeks, so will confirm then. Thanks in the mean time for guesses :hugs:

I have an autistic son hun and 5 who don't have it. Also I read new research which suggests it's more prevalent in girls than once thought as they hide it better by mimicking adults around them.

What you have marked with arrows is both bits I use to nub guess with:) The main white line is the main measuring point, if theres stuff going on above this then I guess boy stacking and if theres nothing above then the nub is laying down flat alongside that white line so a girl guess :) The boy stacking can often not be caught on camera or only give a little glimpse so boys can often be missed. I've attached a link below thats worth a look :)

3boys: that's very reassuring to hear. I know it's a slim chance (10%), but it's still unnerving. I too have read about autism being more prevalent in girls than first thought, but I don't think it's more prevalent than boys. I think it's just this irrational fear that because our son is autistic and our daughter isn't that another son would be too and a daughter wouldn't. Totally nuts and not grounded in fact, it's just quite worrying.

6lilpigs: thanks for that. I guess time will tell in a few weeks :) I would be delighted with another little boy (aside from the higher fear I would have). I have a gut feeling it's a girl, but I've always been wrong, so I imagine it's certainly a boy then :haha:

I was wondering if this might be the nub as it looks like it has the forked ending to it and that the line above is something else... it's all so fuzzy. I wish this scan had provided better quality photos (obviously photos was not the priority of this scan :) and we were delighted the baby is looking healthy so far!).

It's very to think irrationally about it I know trust me lol. I don't take anything during pregnancy cos I'm terrified it's something i did. Now rationally I know that's not true.

I think that looks exactly like both my girls scan pics .. So I'm saying girl all the way!!!

Well, we had a gender scan today at 16 weeks and my gut feeling, for once, was correct and the baby is a girl! I got her to double check, but there definitely wasn't anything between the legs. Will wait till 20 week scan to believe it properly, but for now, we're going with girl.

So happy for you. Can't wait to find out what I'm having. I would literally wouldn't know what to do if they said girl lol
