anyone to help? dom was always a fussy feeder but this week he's gone to a whole other level.

During a feed he'll start off well, get half way through and he'll go red, and start screaming like hes in pain. Ill burp him and successfully bring up wind, only to lean him back down to continue the feed and he starts again screaming. Ive tried sitting him up to feed but he gets angry, screams and fights with the bottle, ive tried teething gel which hasnt helped so im not sure he's teething, he has been pooing normally, only today he had a very dry looking stool, he had pushed real hard and when i opened his nappy the poo was still actually attached to him (sorry about details but i don't know any other way to explain!) like he still needed to finish the poo but didn't. So ive tried water, which he HATES, then my mother suggested sugar water (and so did my friend) so i added some and he drank it better...just! ive gotten 2oz down him today but that seems as far as i can push it. He has also been very sleepy today and has slept through most of it, thing is, he actually does want to feed, something is stopping him and i just can't pinpoint it.

Oh and it doesn't seem like colic as he straightens his body out rather than pulls in towards the stomach....that also makes me think constipation, im just so unsure! and my HV's phoneline seems confusing i will try tomorrow but it looks like the nearest appointment ill get is thursday (and thats if the hour they are there isnt booked up already, i know 1 pissing hour  )

help! thanks ladies!

xxxx

A;so to add he's been whimpering alot in his sleep too :(

Screaming whilst feeding or discomfort is he being sick much or just crying while drinking x

he hasnt been sick..'alot' but more often than usual,he will also just bring milk up a few mins after its gone down (possetting?) but he does cry half way through mainly xxx

Does sound like hes uncomfy while drinking i'd take him to docs hun x

Sounds like my LO :( He's been doing this since about 9 or 10 weeks. It's silent reflux for us. Does he arch his back at all when he fights with the bottle??

yea!!!

i think ill have to take him the docs,i feel for him so much, my HV's don't have a clinic tomorrow :( and id rather not wait...its so upsetting to see him, thing is he's fine of a night, will take his feed, nod off on it practically,no fussing, the daytime however is proving a big fight

I'd say its def silent reflux then hun if hes arching back docs may give infant gaviscon to see if it helps x

My LO is fine at night too! The night feed at 3 am is usually fine with no fuss. The first feed of the morning however at 6... totally different story. :/

I actually could have written this myself.

Rosie is being sick a lot too tho. She arches her back, thrashes her arms and head about & straightens her legs right out. She screams and spits milk everywhere.

I changed her bottles teats; made no difference.

What is silent reflux?? xxx

Silent reflux is where the baby has acid but is not bringing up feeds or anything. leigh if ur lo is being sick a lot have u tried staydown formula?

exact same situation it seems!! :S im booked to a doc tomoz to see whats wrong - the HV and GP reckon Colic?!?!? but thats a phone diagnosis and im not at all happy with that, as everything ive read contradicts his signs...

sometimes dom spits milk up,or kinda 'chokes' and coughs dribbly bits up...so would that just be 'reflux'?

If he suffering more without spitting up its silent reflux if hes suffering and brining up feeds its just reflux

thanks hun ill mention i think its this as my docs dont seem to have a clue unless u happen to mention something..winds me up, i feel it could be reflux as opposed to colic, colic to me is serious business for a baby and when not feeding dom is content. Here's hoping they help tomorrow xx

Docs are useless when it comes to reflux hope they sort ur lo out though bless him x

thanks hun, i feel they're useless full stop tbh, before i was pregnant i avoided em like the plague lol! - heres hoping! fingers X'd thanks :hugs:

I would say silent reflux too. My little one has this. Just started on infant gaviscon yesterday. Other symptoms are hiccuping excessively, drawling and coughing after feeds. My LO also cries and makes choking motions in his sleep.
