13 weeks pregnant, 13 hour threatened abortion

I'm not medically qualified in any way, shape or form, but the HCG levels dropping when you have passed a molar pregnancy seems to make sense for reasons the other posters have mentioned. I hope everything is going to be okay with baby (I have a good feeling that it will be fine) and that the bleeding/cramping is easing off today.. xx

Well all I can say is the doctor and nurse who actually looked at the thing I passed, thankfully she was on duty when I went in yesterday, both agree that whatever I passed was certainly NOT a clot. I feel positive that my baby is a fighter and will be okay. There was heartbeat of 160 yesterday. If I do miscarry, hubby and I have come to terms that there really ISNT anything anyone can do. While the chances f this happening is very sad, in the end I will just have to move on and understand that these things happen. No anger no resentment no fear. Just acceptance and faith that everything happens the way it is suppose to.

All I know is that my bleeding has come to a halt as I am just mildly spotting right now. My HCG levels dropping does make sense if this was in fact a partial molar, which would make explain a lot. I am trying to stay put and chill out in bed until Monday. As weird as this sounds, even being at risk still, I want nothing more than to get up and play in my garden, do the laundry, play with the dog, etc. Of course I wont, but I hate bed rest lol. Thanks again ladies. I will keep ya updated.

How stressful. I'm so sorry glasses13, I wish you weren't going through this. :hugs:

Wow - I can't believe the poor treatment you have had. Even if they have seen people miscarry before surely with all the blood you were losing they should have treated you more urgently than someone with a broken finger.

I'm so sorry you still don't have the answers. I hope Monday brings more certainty. A heartbeat of 160 sounds great for 13weeks.

I had a ruptured ectopic at 13 weeks last April and I don't think you'd pass anything vaginally if it was an ectopic so maybe the molar thing is right. I must admit I'm a bit confused as I'd always thought of molars as being a bunch of cells that develops but doesn't form a proper baby but your bubs seems to be doing well.

I have everything crossed you've got a little fighter in there! Good luck hon. X

Thank you. There are two types of molar pregnancies. 1 is a complete molar that is exactly how you describe. A cluster of cells. 2 is a partial molar which is rare, but 2 sperm fertilize one egg. It turns into twins but only one egg goes on to developing into a fetus while the other has no genetic makeup but the sperm itself is still growing.
Its super weird but they are confident that's what happened. Like I said I will know more tomorrow.

Hope everything is well and you got your answers!

Hi honey,
Hope your doing ok :flower:
Your hcg levels do drop after you get past 10-13 weeks. I know of some do pregnancy tests, it may come up faint or even negative. This is called the wick affect.
I'm glad someone finally looked at what you passed. So sorry you have had such crappy medical professionals in your time of need :hugs:

The heart rate is good. Sounds a little strong baby you have in there :)

You're in Cali too!!! I agree with you, we have some awful doctors here!!! It could have been SCH, hematoma? So happy to hear all is well with baby though!

What a freaking roller coaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, on Monday I was finally seen. The first thing doc said was, "OKAY WE ARE LOSING THE BABY! LETS SEE HOW MUCH TIME WE HAVE. YOUR HORMONE LEVELS HAVE DROPPED DRAMTICALLY SINCE SATURDAY." When he did the Ultrasound he said and I quote, "Oh fuck, there is a baby in there". These people are assholes. Ultra sound was done by my doctor and baby is still jumping and moving like crazy. Heartbeat still kicking. I am still bleeding but its black and brown so that's a great sign. I am no longer bleeding fresh blood which is awesome!! Doctor does still think it was a partial molar, but confirmed it was not a twin or a fetus, as there wasn't any tissue or placenta tissue attached to the specimen, THANK GOD!!! There hasn't been any visible trauma to baby. I am going to Bakersfield to get a special ultrasound by a sonographer. I guess they call it an " Level 3 Ultrasound". My HCG levels were up by 3000 point on Monday, after dropping a bunch from Saturday, and have now dropped 5,000 points from Monday. Not sure if that number is normal? Anyone know a sliding scale of what healthy levels are at 13 weeks? Like I don't know the exact number of what my levels are now but by judging from my last number documented it should be something like 9-10,000.

We still don't have definitive answers as to what exactly happened, and wont until next week or so. Doctor says he wants to be sure that my baby hasn't lost any vital organs or tissue. Also thinks this could have been a tumor that I passed. In all honesty, NOBODY has professionally began to speculate as to what happened, all medical staff and doctors have been feeding me the worst case scenarios and such negativity, and at this point I am going with my gut that everything is fine. All I know is I am so happy that I am okay and so is baby.

Your still seeing that same doctor?!?!

I posted a pic of hcg chart a while ago on one of your 2 threads not sure which one though its hard to keep up between the 2 lol

I know its crazy! I have called 8 OB/GYNs throughout the week and NONE of them will see me anytime soon. Three of them all of a sudden don't do baby stuff anymore just gynecology and cancer and stuff and Two of which are conveniently out on vacation for over a month. Those two doctors are the best that I have researched by the way. I booked a flight to go back to my home town where everyone knows me and I plan to get much better treatment. Until then just going to undergo these tests and these ultrasounds.

Okay I found the chart and I am a little under "normal" but I am not even gonna worry about it right now. We will see what the next quantitive test reveals on Friday.

Wow, what a roller coaster! I'm so glad to hear your baby is fine! I wouldn't worry about the hcg level honestly, the heartbeat is the best indicator at this point. What an adventure, hopefully the stress of it all can dissipate quickly so you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Also, I'll never have a baby in ca!

Hahah I think that is your best bet. I have great private insurance, too. I feel like im in a different country. Anyways thank you and I am feeling fine. Bed rest, eating right, and fluids. It's all I can do.

I am so outraged by the care you received at multiple ERs. I work in the healthcare industry and I am speechless. I myself had bleed and cramping with this pregnancy and swore I was having a MC. Called the advise RN for my healthcare plan and they paged the OB on-call. After been on hold for a couple minutes, the advise RN came back on the line and told me to head to the nearest ER. I was triaged right away and taken back into a room. Since the bleeding wasn't heavy, heavy they did a urine and blood work first. MD came in and said will take me to US first then do an exam. The rolled me over to US and the tech took her time with the exam, unfortunately the monitor was not facing me so I could not tell what she was looking at. All the tech said was "everything looks fine". What! That's it!...MD comes back in the room, decides not to give me an exam since I'm not bleeding through pads and the US looked good.

I felt like I did not get the best bedside care but at least I was taken in right away, saw an MD and was given an US.

What insurance company do you have? Is it possible for you to switch carriers possible? I would speak with Patient Relations at both Hospitals...that is completely unacceptable.

I have excellent private insurance! BlueCross Blueshield Anthem, I don't think that my insurance was the matter at all.
