Ok, so my LO is 7.5 weeks old and weighs 10lb. He was born 3.5 weeks early with a birth weight of 5.5lb.....so is gaining well.

He feeds 4 hourly in the day, taking 5 or 6 Oz. If it's 6 Oz we get a fair bit of sick up!!! He goes the 3/4 hours fine, and can also sleep that long too. He has a 6 Oz feed after his bath and sleeps from 7 til 11pm no problem...in fact half the time I end up waking him for a feed.

After that he wakes 2 hourly MAX!!!! It's a mare in the night. He has 4 feeds between 11pm and 7am, but takes 30 mins for each.... Let's do the maths here....I'm shattered!!!

I have no idea why the days are fine and he is eat eat eat at night. He is not just waking for comfort, he is taking a whole 4 Oz bottle in the night. Any bigger than that he is sick!!

Does anyone have any ideas how to win here?? Do you think swapping to hungry baby milk for the 11pm feed and following feed would help??

The tiredness is rubbish but I can cope with it, I just don't like his sleep messed up if he is so hungry

Xxx

Poor you, that must be awful! Could you try feeding every 3 hours during the day? He may end up getting more in that way and not needing as much at night. Plus if he doesn't get a long nap during the day he may work out that that's what nighttime is for!

I dont let his naps in the day get too long, just naps really....for exactly the reason you mention. I have also tried feeding him more often and still he wakes hungry in the night :-( .......a piggy not a baby!! xxxx

It's funny because I've read many times good naps in the day mean better night sleep. 1 hour-2 is ideal for a 7 week old. Then a cat nap (about 45 mins) in the early evening. Have you tried the EASY routine? Hungry milk dream feed may help xxx

Hi there, I really sympathise, my lo is 16 weeks but was born 10 weeks early so we think of him being about 6-7 weeks old now and I have the exact same problem, he seemed to be awake all night last night yet would go 4-5 hours in the day if we let him! What we try to do is wake him every 3 hours in the day and even every 2 hours in the evening (although this is one of his really sleepy times) even if he just takes a couple of ounces to try a stock him up for the night, it has worked the few times we've managed to do it, with him going about 4 hours in the night the problem is yesterday we had to take him to the hospital for a check up and being out and about we found it easier just to let him sleep for as ling as he wanted, therefore we were up all night last night! I just keep thinking that as he gets older he'll become more aware in the day time and so will sleep better at night :) till then I'm walking round like a zombie! Hope things get better for u soon!
