20 week scan fluid on kidneys

are you talking about pylectasis or hydronephrosis? The specialist freaked me out and said it increases my DS risk. HOWEVER- I had further testing and all was fine. what the specialist didnt explain as my Dr did was that in male fetuses this is a very very common discovery and most often resolves before birth. If not -then it requires a minor surgery after 3 mos old to correct. He also told me that this a fairly recent medical discovery that dr's tend to get overly concerned about. I go back weds to have the babies kidneys checked again. DOnt worry love - when I found out i was distraught but after doing my homework on that issue- please it seemed as though every expected mom had that result given to them and ended up fine. No worries xoxo

Hi I mean hydronephrosis. Mine is bilateral so I think that means both sides. I have made an appointment to see my midwife Tomo just to go through my notes with her. When do you go back for your next scan? Xx

Yeah - that's what I thought, and that's right, its both sides.... Mine too.. don't worry though. I actually go back tomorrow. From what I get its one of those new things that they discovered and now almost every male baby has it... smh... sometimes you have to love medical discoveries and sometimes I just hate it! Its too much and overwhelming. My specialist was a jerk. So black and white. Risk this and risk that - I can't wait to see his face tomorrow when I tell him Hey Dr Jerk AKA Dr Pessimist - my baby is fine. Tuh... ;)
My regular ob was fabulous in how he eventually explained everything to me, even smiled at the end of his explanation. He's a geek.

But on the bright side... we do get to see baby more often! ;) I know of a few moms on BnB who have had their babies have the same diagnosis. The good thing is a lot of them had issued that resolved. I read too that this diagnosis is really not even a strong indication of DS and actually is very controversial because of how often its found in both DS pregnancies and "normal" pregnancies. I hate that word normal. Ugh - I really do.All in all- I know exactly how you feel - but it will be fine. I cant wait for you to update us!!!! ;)[/QUOTE

Hi how did you get on today? X
