Hi mommies!
I'm currently 21 weeks and will went to the doctors Monday with some good news and bad. The good news is that the baby had enough fluid around it but not enough and the bad news is they can induce my pregnancy for an emergency birth if something goes wrong and I keep loosing fluid. I have been realizing a bunch of water in my undies but before I haven't leaked fluid. I have also been realizing a tanish / brownish discharge. The baby is healthy as can be but I'm worried about the possibility they can have me give birth because I'm 21 weeks along if it's an emergency, the baby is very small. I worry it can't live. I've seen stories of babies living at 20 weeks, but that's too early. I was a premature baby, I was born 2 months early. With my first child I didn't have complications like this, except she was having issues with being stressed. She was born on April 6th 20016 weighing 6lbs 5oz 21 inch long full term and healthy, they had to induce my pregnancy then. Is this happening to other mamas? What can I do to help get enough fluid? The doctor for High Risk Pregnancy said they are going to keep an eye on the fluid and the babies growth and development. I go back Monday and I'm crossing my fingers for some good news.

Sorry, she was born on April 6th, 2006. My mistake. I have this year on my mind.

Oh and my due date is in September if that helps any?

Hey

Sorry you have to go through it.

Will be quick, as not much time.

Read about too little fluid before and only recommendations were
1) Drink 2+ liters of water a day
2) Rest in bed as much as possible.

Hope all will be ok!

Well mine has fluctuated a lot since I found out at 18 weeks. It's varied from as low as 5.5 to as high as 15. I did find that IV fluids helped and staying really hydrated. I try to take it easy and rest when needed. I'm nearly 30 weeks now and things are going well :)

Oh, and also, I wasn't eating much, so I started adding in more protein and I'm not sure if that's what did the trick, but it can't hurt.

I went to the specialist for high risk pregnancy and forgot to ask the doctor how low the fluid is. He has told me it's too low and there's a 50/50 chance the baby may or may not survive. We found out that the baby is a boy too and this is really too much pressure for me. :(

Im sorry about your fluid being low but I know of ladies that has made it well into 3rd tri with low fluid ... stay strong momma

How could they tell you were low on fluid ? Did they see by a scan ?

Will be keeping you and your little boy in my thoughts.

They can tell when they do a sonogram. I need to get the MRI done ASAP and it depends whenever my baby daddy is off work.

Thank you so much, it's greatly appreciated. My baby daddy and I are going to be devastated if it doesn't work out. We've been trying to have a baby for a year 1/2, we've been together for 5 years in September.

Just keeping drinking lots of fluids! Some docs roll their eyes at it, but lots of moms out there have had some success with it. I think it really depends on WHY the fluid is low.

I had Oligo diagnosed at my 20 week ultrasound with my first. I was told to drink 2 gallons of water daily (which I found to be damn impossible - but I drank as much as I could) and rest as much as possible. I had appointments with High Risk as well as my regular OB throughout the rest of my pregnancy. Frequent ultrasounds to check babys growth and fluid levels. Starting at 32 weeks I did weekly NSTs. At 36+3 I thought my water broke, but the L&D nurses convinced me that it was just cervical fluid. Went all weekend with nothing else happening. Monday morning I went for the NST and there was no fluid around baby so I was induced immediately. I was pumped full of IV fluids and after 22 hours ended up with a csection at 36+6. Baby was 5lbs11oz and perfectly healthy. It was scary, but they kept a good eye on me and I did as much as I could to help the situation.

Good luck! It doesnt have to end horribly. I think its somewhat common honestly, about 4-8% of pregnancies. Crossing my fingers for you and your sweet boy :hugs:
