24 hours... no poo?

Little man hasn't done a poo in just over 24 hours now, really worrying, have tried cooled boiled water after a couple of his feeds... is this a serious concern?

Hi hun, upto 3 days is normal. Try to massage his tummy with little warm olive oil & lots of leg cycling. Keep offering him cool boiled water. xx

If he keeps getting constipated it's worth looking into changing his formula. Some formulas can cause constipation.

We've gone up to 5 days Hun. Some babies just struggle sometimes!! My HV suggested adding 0.5 oz to a couple of bottles to get the extra water into her to make her go!! Also make sure that you add exactly the right formula to water as even if there's a little too much powder it can cause problems..

Hi, dont panic. My LO is 5 weeks old and I was phoning the labour ward etc when she hadn't poo'd for almost 48 hrs. They said not to worry, so I gave her cooled water and a poo followed a while later. She just had another 2 days with no poo and then yesterday came the biggest wet one ever! Eurgh! xx

My daughter sometimes doesn't poo for 2 days then she'll give me 4 dirty nappies in a day! It's all normal.

You'll soon find out your baby's routine. My LO goes about every 3 days. If it's longer then that I take note and consider giving him some water.

if he starts getting a sore tummy try putting a tiny bit of brown sugar or OJ in the cooled boiled water...

tummy massages, warm baths and lots of cuddles help too xx

Be warned, when he goes he may really go! When little J has gone a day or so she has almost blown her nappy off lol!! It's all to do with the little digestive system getting to grips with all this digesting business xx

Maybe use warm water, works great with my LO. I never give him cold water, warm water great advice from my mom

Well that happens especially if it's formula. My pediatrician told me that they can go up to 5 days without having a dirty diaper. She suggested I put 1 teaspoon of Light Karo Syrup (not the dark) in his bottle. Trust me, it works!! Now his bowel movements are normal. I only used it a couple of times. Their tummies need to get adjusted to the formula.
