Does your LO have over 24 hours?

My LO is nearly 17 weeks and has bottles every three hours between 7am and 7pm then one bottle in the night.

He asks for a bottle after three hours but now when I offer it to him it is as if he doesn't really want it and pushes it away several times before having it and it can take up to 45mins. If I take it away he will ask for it again a little while later. He is still only having roughly 4oz a bottle. Do you think he wants to go four hours between? If your LO has a bottle every four hours, roughly what time do they have them?

Thanks :) x

just try and see if he will go 4 hours, maybe give an extra once to help go the 4 hours. my lo was having 6oz every 3hrs and we upted her milk to 7oz which then she started going every 4 hours.

my lo has 4 x 7oz bottles a day

8am,12pm,4pm,8pm (she sleeps through the night)

Parker had 6ish bottles in 24 hours of 7-8oz each (he a beast!)

He STTN so he still eats every 2-3hrs ...a few weeks ago we were lucky if he went 2 hrs between feeds so we put him on Hungry baby and he back to nearly 3hrs.

Thanks for the replies ladies.

I think maybe he looks out for a bottle after three hours because it has almost become routine rather than because he actually wants it?! Might see if he will wait a bit longer tomorrow. I'm wasting so much milk at the mo.

I always make 6oz bottles and a 7oz for bedtime but he very rarely finishes them.

And so jealous your LO's STTN. Zac slept from 7-7 once and hasn't don't it since, it was obviously a total fluke!!!

My LO is 13 weeks and has a bottle every 3-4 hours during the day but sleeps longer at night. This is generally her feeding routine:

4.00 / 8.00 / 11.00 / 14.30 / 18.00 / 21.00 / Dreamfeed at 23.00

We make up 150ml / 5oz bottles but she doesnt always have it all and tends to have a break in between and come back to it about 30 mins later. I'm going to try and make her 21.00 feed a bit bigger and cut out the dreamfeed this week so hopefullyshe will sleep longer at night :)

Thanks. I'm considering doing a dream feed because at the moment he has his last bottle at 7 and then wakes around 4am for a feed. I thought maybe having a dream feed would help him go through to 6 or 7? X

In a 24 hour period my LO will take four 6 oz bottles. We were feeding her every three hours. But now we let her tell us when she is hungry. She usually has her last bottle between 8-9pm and STTN. Sometimes she may only eat 3 bottles, but it just depends on when she wakes in the morning.

At four weeks, my baby boy was eating 30 oz per day! At four months, we were told to start him on solids, because he was eating between 38 oz. and 40 oz. per day IIRC, so I don't have experience with babies not wanting to eat as much. DH is now worrying that he is too big:(!

If your lo ends up going four hours between feeds, he will be getting less than 20 oz. per day...is that enough? I'm not sure.

I'd give your lo's doctor a call to ask. xx

My lo is 9 Weeks.and has 6Oz every 3 hours during the day until 10pm she then won't want another bottle until 7am and sleeps right through xx

Leah's 4.5 months old and has 4x8oz bottles in 24 hours at 8am, 12pm, 3:30pm and 7pm usually, she doesn't drink all her milk usually though, she's been sleeping through since 10 weeks :flower:

Thanks ladies. I will stick with what we are doing. He definitely asks for milk, maybe he wants a 'snack' sometimes.

I hadn't thought of that jellybean. I hoped that by going four hours he might be more hungry and would drink more but it might not work like that?

my lo was like this and at twelve weeks i changed the teats on her bottles and it made a massive difference she now drinks 4 8oz bottles normally at 8am, 12pm, 4pm and 8pm

Thanks babyjoy. What number teats are you using now? X

Hi i use number 2 teats and have done since he was about 6 weeks old. He sometimes dribbles with them when he's messing about but when he is feeding properly he can use them without dribbling hardly any milk.

My LO has 6 bottles in 24 hrs. He generally has between 5-7 oz a time. He usually has his first one around 4.30am, then - 8.30am, 11.30am, 2.30pm, 5.30pm, 9.00pm.

Jenson has 6 5oz bottles in the day! Due to a medical condition he needs to be woken up to be fed! His routine is

8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm (bath and bed), 11pm dreamfeeding, 4am

He also has breakfast at 10am and a taste of new purees at 6pm! Hope this helps! X

im on level two, u could always just put some needle holes in the teats that your using , this might do the trick too :flower:

Hiya, my little boys a bit of a chunk at 3 months and has 5 7oz bottle a day, roughly- 5am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm and 6pm. He sleeps 6pm-5/6am, but only if he's had his 5 bottles!

Sounds similar to what Rhys is doing to us lately

He generally eats every three hours throughout the day (9, 12, 3, 6 or thereabouts). And takes 4ish ounces each go. He has a dream feed at 10/10:30 and wakes up once in the night to eat. Recently though he's had a few days of dropping a bottle entirely. He did it last Thurs. and Fri. (the noon bottle) but took it Sat. and Sun. and than today tried to drop it again

Thanks ladies. He managed 6oz at 7pm last night and I can only now hear him stirring for the first time. Hoping as he missed his night feed he will take a bigger bottle for breakfast :)

It helps to hear what other babies are doing.

X

Jack has 5 x 7oz bottles - one at 6ish, 10ish, 2ish, 6ish and then a dreamfeed before we go to bed at 10ish. He doesn't always finish all of them though. I may try dropping the dreamfeed to see how long he lasts...I suspect he will wake at about 12-1am!
