32 weeks and got really bad period type pains???

Hi everyone!

This is my first post on here! I've really been enjoying reading everyone's comments and hints and tips!! Now I have a wee worry of my own!
As the title says, I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I have woken this morning with major period like pains in my stomach and back :cry: can anyone shed any light on what this might be? Thanks in advance xxxx
 
Hi and welcome. This is a question I see getting posted a lot. At about the same time frame you are - 32 to 33 weeks - I also started feeling period like pains. Not too severe but mild like ones. My lower back has also started hurting more, to the point where I had to put a heating pad on it the other day.

From my past weeks experience - being 36 weeks now - I believe this is normal. That and I've seen a lot of people on here asking about it around the same time - 30 to 40 weeks or so. I have read that your body may be "gearing up" for labor but that doesn't mean labor is near. Hope this helps! You are not alone!

So I recently had these pains for the last week... I went to my OBGYN, and he tells me it's because I was constipated (tmi I know) but it made sense. I upped my fiber intake and drank more fluids, problem solved? NO!

just a few nights ago i had a horrible cramp that lasted for hours, sometimes it was worse than others, but it never faded. after callin gmy doc, and him just giving me the same round about speach... i went to the hospital...turns out they were contractions...the real deal! and I had to have them stopped.

So Deffinately, make sure you arent constipated... and if it keeps happening... go to the hospital! :)
 
I would just keep track of them, write down the time that the cramp starts, and when it stops. I had this happening, thought it was BH, and when I went in they said, no you're having contractions. If it becomes frequent, or in a pattern, like every ten minutes, then I'd call your doctor.

Intresting thread, since yesterday I awoke with really bad lower back pain kinda reminded me of period pain the type you would get a day or 2 before period arrived. I am constipated ( I always am even when not pregnant) and yesterday put it down to my bowls waking up and moving more. I am 31 weeks plus 1 day to day.

Again I have woke stupid early with lower back pain and tailbone aches (likely my constipation) However at my 31 week apt yesterday baby was 4/5 Brim, which I think means 1/5 Engadged? The back ache dosent come and go its constant, its only about a 2 on the pain scale though... does anyone think I need to be in panic mode or just stick with the constaption theory?

I have something similar from last week and I am 33 weeks now. I am not constipated, but dont think I would worry unless it will be frequent or constant. I have midwife app next Monday, will check with her then.
 
Yea I've got the midwife on Monday for my 32 weeks appointment, so I'll mention to her then xxx
 
I posted but removed it to make an edit then forgot to repost...

I had false labor that felt like period pains and was in my back. It started at 36 weeks for me. My midwife was able to check them out as I was in her office when I had some. She said it could also be constipation however she said mine were in fact contractions.

Since mine stopped she wasn't worried at the time. I just laid down drank water and slept.
