Hi everyone!

This is my first post on here! I've really been enjoying reading everyone's comments and hints and tips!! Now I have a wee worry of my own!
As the title says, I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I have woken this morning with major period like pains in my stomach and back  can anyone shed any light on what this might be? Thanks in advance xxxx

Hi and welcome. This is a question I see getting posted a lot. At about the same time frame you are - 32 to 33 weeks - I also started feeling period like pains. Not too severe but mild like ones. My lower back has also started hurting more, to the point where I had to put a heating pad on it the other day.

From my past weeks experience - being 36 weeks now - I believe this is normal. That and I've seen a lot of people on here asking about it around the same time - 30 to 40 weeks or so. I have read that your body may be "gearing up" for labor but that doesn't mean labor is near. Hope this helps! You are not alone!

hey there!

So I recently had these pains for the last week... I went to my OBGYN, and he tells me it's because I was constipated (tmi I know) but it made sense. I upped my fiber intake and drank more fluids, problem solved? NO!

just a few nights ago i had a horrible cramp that lasted for hours, sometimes it was worse than others, but it never faded. after callin gmy doc, and him just giving me the same round about speach... i went to the hospital...turns out they were contractions...the real deal! and I had to have them stopped.

So Deffinately, make sure you arent constipated... and if it keeps happening... go to the hospital! :)

I would just keep track of them, write down the time that the cramp starts, and when it stops. I had this happening, thought it was BH, and when I went in they said, no you're having contractions. If it becomes frequent, or in a pattern, like every ten minutes, then I'd call your doctor.

Thank you all very much for your replies! I will keep an eye on it throughout today, thanks again xx

Intresting thread, since yesterday I awoke with really bad lower back pain kinda reminded me of period pain the type you would get a day or 2 before period arrived. I am constipated ( I always am even when not pregnant) and yesterday put it down to my bowls waking up and moving more. I am 31 weeks plus 1 day to day.

Again I have woke stupid early with lower back pain and tailbone aches (likely my constipation) However at my 31 week apt yesterday baby was 4/5 Brim, which I think means 1/5 Engadged? The back ache dosent come and go its constant, its only about a 2 on the pain scale though... does anyone think I need to be in panic mode or just stick with the constaption theory?

Thanks

I have something similar from last week and I am 33 weeks now. I am not constipated, but dont think I would worry unless it will be frequent or constant. I have midwife app next Monday, will check with her then.

Yea I've got the midwife on Monday for my 32 weeks appointment, so I'll mention to her then xxx

I posted but removed it to make an edit then forgot to repost...

I had false labor that felt like period pains and was in my back. It started at 36 weeks for me. My midwife was able to check them out as I was in her office when I had some. She said it could also be constipation however she said mine were in fact contractions.

Since mine stopped she wasn't worried at the time. I just laid down drank water and slept.
