Well just as the title says I am 34 weeks had my doc appointment today babies head is engaged 2/5 cervix is short and he said his hopes of me making it full term are slim.. im so nervous. Ive had the shots for babies lungs because of preterm labor before, so he said all she will need is to be in the NICU to regulate temp and maybe some lights for jaundice , her breathing should be well established because of the shots.

I hope that she stays put at least for 3 more weeks! I feel so unprepared for this and the journey in NICU if we have to have one, ive been on bedrest so things are progressing even on bedrest (cant imagine if I was up and going about still)

On a positive note he prescribed antibiotics for this nuisance sinus infection , hope I get some releif soon I cant take these migrains!!!

Just thought id update.

Also ultrasound booked next week to get exact measurments of bambino... my last ultrasound....

Hopefully baby stays put for a few more weeks!!
Good luck with your ultrasound!:hugs:

Sending good thoughts your way that baby will hold on for a couple more weeks!

Big hugs!!! My last baby was born at 33wks. My water had broke at 31wks so we were given the steroid shots over a 3 day period for his lungs. He ended up sitting tight for 2 more weeks!! (although I had to stay in the hospital that entire time) When he was born, he was perfect!! Tiny but as healthy as my full term girls. He did get an iv for some antibiotics because his cord was a little yellow due to the membranes being ruptured for so long but other than that...nothing else!!! He went home with me after 2 nights!! Good luck!!

I know how you feel! I am 34 weeks also and on bedrest due to preterm labor, I have my doctors appt tomorrow so I am nervous to see if I have dialated anymore since leaving the hospital. I have been doing a lot of research though and I feel confident that baby will be fine if he is born now (even though I too am hoping he will stay in a few more weeks) so don't stress too much! *hugs*

oh take care hun thinking of u and also hope baby stays put for another few wks .......:)

Thanks ladies forr your positive thoughts, just so glad I made it this far!!

What an amazing story!! Its stories like this that make me feel a bit better about the whole situation, although it does such to have to deliver early as my body wont hold up and I somehow feel like its my fault...

Yes its not the greatest time in the world being on bed rest I have also done lots of research on babies this gestational age survival rate and so on, I wish you well on your doctors appointment, hopefully u get better new than me..

good luck xx

Good luck Hun, I remember someone who was 1/2cm dilated in 2nd tri when I was pregnant with Alex.

I went pre term and she was overdue!

You and bubs should be fine, you've had the full steroids and you' getting well looked after ;) if you did end up in special care it would be a short stay normally xxx

Oh sweetheart tell LO to stay put just a little longer! I know everything will be fine but a few more weeks and its even better lots of sticky dust

Awwhh hun. Sending you lots of hugs and good luck. ((((())))) They are fab on the NICU wards. My baby was born 2 weeks early but very small because I had high blood pressure and you wouldnt think so now.

He is 9 months old and nearly walking!!!

I am sure you will both be fine and in safe hands xxx

My leo was born at 34+3days. He'd had the steroids too. Weighed 5lb4oz and came Home with me on day 3 (csec) with no need for nicu.

Hope lo stays put a few wks longer for u tho x

I have had zero cervical length (100% effaced) and been 2 cm dilated since 25 weeks. I have made it to 31 weeks and still trucking. Also, 34 weeks is my goal of safety... so try to feel secure. xoxo

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the responses! I deffinitely thought 34 weeks I would feel " safe" but being here and dealing with this is in reality I am deffinitely not feeling like I thought I would! I just want a full term baby. thats it!! my fingers, legs, and toes are crossed for the next 3 weeks!!!

Good luck hun, I hope babs stays put for a few more weeks for you! :hugs:

Good luck to you babes xx Sure all will be fine, here's hoping she sticks a bit longer!! xx

AWW, well I really hope LO stays in there just a lil longer! it must be scary to know baby may have to be in nicu but they will make sure she's OK there. Also it must be exciting cause you might get to hold her sooner than expected so yay for that !! wish you all the best luck and keep us
updated! :hugs:

:hugs: I hope baby hangs in there for a little while longer for you and it can happen. A friend of mine was about 2cm dilated and contracted irregular on and off from 25 weeks onward until she went into true labour at 42 weeks!

But if things do progress faster and baby arrives sooner do keep in mind that the outcomes of baby's born at 34 weeks and greater are excellent. While babies at this gestation are more likely to experience some breathing difficulties and breastfeeding problems these issues tend to be of a relatively minor severity and they generally quickly resolve. It's not unheard of at all for these babies to quickly improve and be sent home within a week after birth if not sooner.

I know the bed rest sucks. I had been on bed rest for an abruption from 15wks to 24wks. And then at 27wks, I lost my plug and was dilated to 2cm. I was then put back on strict bed rest. At the time my girls were only 3yrs and 18months. When my water broke at 31wks, I was still at 2cm. The same at 33wks when labor started. I know the bed rest kept me from dilating and I followed the rules. But it is the most trying thing in pregnancy. And it just makes the days stretch on forever. And of course, it gives you nothing but time to lay and think about the baby coming to early and all the what if's and to google way tooooo much!!

Hang in there. It will be over soon. If you could two more weeks in, you will have an almost fully baked baby!!! 36wks, think more like medium well baby!
