Hey girls,

Went to see the mw today and found out LO is only 2/5 engaged (3/5 palpable) - was really gutted to hear that....
But I was just wondering whether this means I'll be late??
Or is it true that the baby can basically get to fully engaged overnight??

I'd like to hear your experiences with your first babies please.... (cause I know subsequent babies don't have to engage before labour).
Oh I'm 39+1 today btw..

I would be interested in the resposes to this aswell as my notes say 3/5th palp from my emergency appt yesterday and due saturday so wondering of that means ill be going over

Hello hun! Sometimes babies do not engage till labour starts, My mum has had 3 of us and none of us engaged as her pelvis was too narrow, But she went in to labour naturally with me and my sister witch ended in C-Sections then with her 3rd she had a planned section

I don't think it takes baby long to engage, Someone correct me if I am wrong though :D

Hiya - I was 3/5ths engaged at 38+2 and was checked today 38+5 and am fully engaged. I didn't do anything special and from what I hear none of this makes any difference regarding when you go into labour. Good luck!

Being 2/5th means the baby is pretty much engaged, it's actually a good thing.
ts actually the other way round to what it sounds - so 2/5ths engaged means that 2/5ths of the baby's head is palpable above the pelvic brim... therefore 3/5ths is down in this pelvis.
So 5/5ths would mean the baby's head is not engaged at all and 0/5ths would mean its totally engaged.

also yes baby's can change over night, especially baby 2,3,4 etc. you don't even need to be engaged to go into labour.
