Hi Ladies,
Was so so so excited about 3/4D baby scan today.. It's been the only think keeping me going recently as I've been having a hard time with sciatica and SPD.

Anyways, we get there only to be told that my placenta was totally in the way and she couldn't do it.. (anterior placenta, not low)
I've to book another appointment in 4 weeks time as the baby will be bigger.

Has anyone else experienced this?!

To top it all off I have family coming round this afternoon to see the DVD and pics.. And I just can't be arsed!!
My hubby couldn't care less.. Instead of realising I was upset he had a go at me about flinging money away!!!!

Just feel really low... :( xx

The placenta position shouldn't affect the scan. I have an anterior placenta and haven't had problems in the past. I have a 4D scan booked at the weekend which I am nervous about, I know how you feel about OH, mine moans at me for throwing money away to.

Who is it you went with? The place I am using said we shouldn't go much over 28 weeks because baby will run out of room and the pictures will be poor.

Sorry you have been let down. :(

I have an anterior placenta, not low and I asked if it would be a problem before I booked. They said no. She spent ages scanning us and I had to keep moving about and holding my bump to stop her moving to help her get a good shot of her but she managed it!

Hope you get some good pics next time xx

Ive uploaded one of my pictures and you can see the placenta up against her arm so if she turned her face we wouldnt be able to see her. I had to keep pushing on my placenta to stop her turning into it xx

It was with peek a view baby scanning.. They have a branch in Glasgow too so I'm gonna get my next appointment there coz I really didn't like the girl.. Felt she could have tried a bit harder to at least show us something!
I was told the best time to do it was between 27 and 30 weeks too.. Coz then baby would be too big but she said hopefully the placenta will get pushed up.

Had to come out to the shops to get away from the hubby.. Either that or we're gonna have a massive blow out!!!

Good luck with your scan, let me know how you get on xx

I honestly just felt that the woman couldn't be bothered..!!
I asked if it would help for me to go a walk to try shift baby from 'cuddling into the placenta' as she said but I was told.. No!!
Just wish I'd been able to see something!! x

It really frustrates me when the sonographers spoil the experience. They are paid to do a job and pay us a service. :dohh:

I will let you know how I get on, I hate waiting!!

I hate hearing stories such as these because the tech is full of BS! They can do the scan (with some extra work) she just didn't want to. Ugh

If you don't like your job, don't do it period. I hate half arsed people.

So sorry you weren't able to get your scan done. FX they are able to make something happen next time and you are blessed with a different tech. :hugs:

There's a thread on 2nd tri somewhere with loads of negative peek a view reviews. I'll try to find the link. I had booked one then after reading the reviews we cancelled it and booked with BabyBond who we used at 12w.

I'd ring up and ask for a refund rather than a re scan. I also have an anterior placenta and I had an amazing scan on Friday at 28w5d so they are talking rubbish by blaming the placenta.

My avatar is from my scan, it looks like is is using my placenta as a pillow!

There are more pics on my journal if you want to see them too.

I've looked for the thread but I can't find it, I'll look again later.

So sorry you feel let down xx

Yes, defo ask for a refund. explain you didnt like their attitude and then go elsewhere.

The scan can be done it just takes a little longer.

xx

WAVE! We had that problem.....

we could see her but nothing compaired to what you see normally on 3d scans... we got film and pics but I was gutted x

We had it with reassure 3d.... she tried for over an hour with us to get good pictures, but the baby honestly refused to move. We tried everything. She kept burying her face into it xx

Wow, I'm sorry you had that experience. I never heard about the position of the placenta causing problems. Mine is anterior also and I have a 3D/4D scan next week :nope:

I have anterior placenta, and i had my 4d scan at 23 weeks. It took 2 hours because he kept hiding his face in the placenta, and i had to keep going for a walk to get him to move. He also kept putting his cord to his face!! The lady said this is common because they can hear a heartbeat in the placenta and the cord makes a swishing noise, which the babies find comforting, bless them!
She almost gave up, but we got one good shot right at the end, which is my avatar pic, thank goodness!! Good luck for net time X

Thanks for all your replies ladies.. Think I'll phone up 2moro and see what they say. Considering the refund option at the moment though!!

Will research other companies 2moro too.
xx

Yeh I had a scan at 28 weeks and he just kept hiding his face in the placenta and it made the images really distorted so I had to rebook! They tried to get him to move but he wouldn't budge! X x

o sorry to hear it didnt go well! If it helps we had our 3d scan with babybond in glasgow and it was amazing! Maybe try with them?

I hate hearing stories like this :( the tech just clearly didn't give a crap! She should've gone above & beyond to ensure you got the services you asked & paid for!

If it were me I would've walked out & told them I'm not paying till I have what I asked for... Are they making you pay for the next scan too? I also wouldn't leave it past 30weeks as bub will be very squishy in there & there's a good chance she will be using the placenta as a pillow.

My hospital has been doing fortnightly scans on me with the 4d scanner free due to her heart condition & there's been quite a dew times where if she's not using the placenta as a pillow squirming her face into it, she got her hands/feet or cord in front of her face lol cheeky monkey,

I would defs ring them & demand a refund & explain if need be you'll bring the disc back & photos & your really unhappy with the fact she really couldn't be bothered..

I had two done, one at 29 weeks and another at 33 weeks, anterior placenta and both times he was cuddling the placenta. I had paid for a 30 min session and both times ended up going a little bit over due to the placenta causing a few issues. I did manage to get some good pics, but probably would have had much better ones if there wasn't the placenta in the way. I had to move around quite a bit and we tried several things to get him to move away such as juice, walking and even a bit of poking to get him to move a bit. When we would get a good view, we would try to get as many as we could before his face got buried again.

I had my scan there last night and couldn't see baby's face very well because her placenta was in the way but the woman was lovely :) The scan you go back for it just a black and white reassurance one and you dont get any pics from it :( I left feeling really gutted and OH was really angry about it but the woman was so lovely and really tried. I was moving about and had to press on my belly and lay on my side etc. to try and get a better shot.
