Is 5oz too much? He feeds every 3 hours and wolfs it all down, last feed he was still hungry! Is it time for hungry baby milk?

I would say just stick with it and make up 6 ozs, on the packaging for Aptimal it recommends that an average 4-8 wk old baby has 5 ozs, maybe your baby is just having a growth spurt? I'd probably give it a week or two and see how bub gets on.

I do feed hi on aptamil, but I thought the spaces between feeds would maybe get longer but they are still 3 hours and he's still hungry after a feed. Although this just started today so maybe he is on a growth spurt. xx

I think the 4 week growth spurt is a biggy!

Francesca has been on 5oz bottles for about a week now and usually feeds every 3-4hrs - although this can vary from 2 and a half to 5hrs but not often. Sometimes she will only have 3 or 4oz but usually drains every drop. Very rarely she is still hungry so we will give her more if she wants it. My hv came last Thurs and said this was absolutely fine. She also said to expect her to want feeding more often when she is having a growth spurt xxx

Hmm, someone else with the same problem. My LO eats 4 oz every 2-3 hours except longer at night. Its driving me crazy, especially his 2 hour gaps. I feel like he's gonna make himself sick.

https://similac.com/baby-formula/similac-advance-feeding-tips This is the formula and chart i use. The oz is about right but he goes way over the 5-6 feedings for a 1-3 month old. It's more like 8-10 feedings!

I'm guessing its a growth spurt - they have them at apparently 5 weeks and 8 weeks so your LO is probably going through one now!

My daughter is 3 wks old and WAS drinking 5 oz every 2 hours, she gained 2lbs since birth... My daughter is greedy and now I cut her feedings down to 3 1/2 oz sometimes 4oz and I try not to feed her every 2 hours now.. I push it out to every 3 to 4 hours. The past 2 nights she's only woken up ONCE during the night when usually she wakes up like clock work at 1am, 3am, 5am and 7am to feed.. Now I feed her around 10pm and she doesn't wake up until 4am and I feed her and she doesn't drink the full 4oz then at 7am we're up again and I feed her maybe 3oz.

I'm so worried about her gaining 2lbs already and she's not even a month old.. so I'm cutting back on feedings, NO i'm not starving her but I'm just not going to give her 5oz and I seldom give her 4oz.. 3 1/2 is good for now.

please remember that babies dont have the mental ability to over feed or be greedy, they eat until they are full!!

I wouldn't worry about it. My LO is now 6 weeks old and she drinks 7oz bottles! She's on Aptimal 1st. I wouldn't switch to hungry baby yet until she's downing 8 or 9oz and wanting more. Just give her what she wants. I BF Marnie for the first month and when I expressed she was guzzling 5/6oz of that. Started her on Aptimal and she took 5 at first then started wanting more so I tried her with another 5oz and she drank 2 oz of it so I make her 7 now and she's content after a feed. Bubs will let you know if they're hungry. If you can't get bub to sleep or be pacifieid with a dummy and you've tried everything else then they're hungry. I was making the mistake with Marnie of giving her 5oz and winding her then she'd still be on wanting more so I'd try her with the dummy and rock her and she'd nod off and as soon as I put her down she'd wake up crying because her tummy wasn#t full. The first night I gave her 7oz she went to bed at 11 and didn#t wake til 8:30 the next day! I took her to clinic and she put on 1lb all but an oz in a week. HV wasn't concerned as she was following the line nicely :) xx
