Hello, I'm new to the forum and I can't read 230 pages of stuff, so I do apologise for the newbie questions.

I'm about 5 stone overweight right now, having lost 2 stone already. I find Slimming World works for me but after doign it a while I lose interest and end up back where I started.

My husband and I would like to start trying, but I'm finding it hard to get reliable information about the dangers with being so overweight and trying. I don't find I'm irregular or particularly have any problems...

Hi sweetie - welcome to the group!

I was 20 stones 6lbs when I got pregnant. I had been on the depo injection for 4.5yrs and it took less than 2 months for my period to return and only 6 months after that to conceive!

The only things I suffered with during my pregnancy were extended morning sickness until 23wks and heartburn the whole way through which made me feel terrible most days lol. But these could happen to ANY pregnant woman! My appetite also reduced to virtually nothing and when I was weighed after having Fran I had lost 3.5 stones - god I felt good lol!

My blood pressure was fine the whole way through and my test for gestational diabetes came out negative. I saw and anaesthatist who checked me over and told me she would have no problems giving me an emergency epidural or knocking me out if needed and she wanted me to have as active a birth as possible.

I was induced because Fran was a lazy bird but had a normal vaginal delivery and apart from one shot of pethedine (which I found totally useless) I did the rest on just gas and air!

I hope that puts your mind at rest a little - please feel free to ask me any questions about anything - there is nothing too personal xxx

I weigh 14 stone i lost 2 stone to fall pg but felt so poorly. But in the end we got a positive.

My pregnancy is text book apart from the tiredness. The only difference in my pregnancy to a skinny persons is i have to have a diabetes test as compulsary and skinny people dont.

Good luck ttc x

I am not ttc at the moment but I do have a question for you lovely ladies (hopefully it hasn't been asked 85,000 times, its a loooong thread)

Im a BIG girl- 5'10" and wear US size 22/24. I don't pay attention much to weight but I think its over 300lb. I have an issue with the idea of BMI because it does not take into account that under my layer of fat I actually have a lot of muscle and as stated by an actual Doctor I have "very large/dense bones". I thought he was trying to be nice and not call me fat but no he was serious, I have dinosaur bones. Anyway, I just find the idea of only taking height and weight into consideration to judge health is ridic. My BP is great, blood sugar perfect, and thyroid perfect!

Sorry, that was a bit of a rant...:hissy:

ANYWAY- I have never had regular periods and it is unknown whether or not I ovulate. I have talked to my University's gyno and she says that while yes weight can affect ovulation she doesn't think me being fat is the (main) reason I am not regular. She ruled out PCOS but I am "slightly low" on LH and FSH hormones but not near what she was expecting. SO basically she isnt real sure what is wrong. basically she put me on BCPs and called it a day.

Has anyone else dealt with this? I want to have kids eventually but without AF/ovulation that's a bit hard. From what I have read here a lot of y'all have reg AF OR have PCOS causing the irregularities... Anyone have neither? Just go months without AF for no damn reason? I wonder if taking Soy would help (when the time comes) :help:

That was long, sorry.

:hugs: No answers from me hon but hopefully someone will!

I can't believe my baby is almost 3 weeks old! She's so gorgeous and sweet... Such a good baby. Breastfeeding like a rockstar, sleeping like a champ...

Hi ladies, so I'm back in the TTC category...in the middle of having a miscarriage. :( I know that they say that miscarriage is usually just chromosomal and things just didn't really start to form right, but it's so hard not to think it's because of my weight.
At least I know I am able to get pregnant. Hopefully in a month or two I will have a cycle. I'm not regular without clomid and I'm not going to hop right back on it, so we'll see. With a May due date, I was excited to avoid summer pregnancy and bloating, and as a teacher, the summer off with the baby! But, as long as I carry a baby to term, I guess it doesn't matter what time of year it is!
Good luck everyone!
Sarah

Brandy - so good to hear from you, its been tooooo long! So happy for your Raninbow BFP, praying that this is it for you :) How you feeling?

Wow LaraJJ! Look how far along you are! I am so excited for you! Any day now! You have picked out such a beautiful name. Time went by so fast!

I am feeling okay actually! I had some morning sickness episodes the last few days, but during the day I feel pretty good. I am cramping quite a bit but it's just bubs digging in there to get comfy. Just praying he/she sticks around this time. I am already in love.

Ah, thanks Brandy - we love our name, and just can't wait to meet her now. It does feel like time has flown by, but also that I've been pregnant forever, lol! Think she is having a growth spurt though - when the supermarket checkout lady asked me how long I had left and I said just over 3 weeks, she was like 'ohhh - thats gonna be a really big baby love!' Umm - yeah thanks, that makes me feel sooo much better!!! I am all bump now though, really out front - and I'm still a stone and a half (21lbs) below my pre-preg weight so I'm really chuffed :)

I have a growth scan tomorrow, so hoping for a nice average-sized baby!! My best friend has just had an 11lbs 7oz little boy - all natural, just gas & air and no stitches! She's my hero, lol :)
