I have sent off form for 500 grant but wondering if I'm entitled
Do you have to be on income support? I mean I'll b claiming child benefits etc but not income support?

I think you need to be claiming IS, JSA etc to be entitled

We weren't entitled to it while I was pregnant because we aren't on any of the specified benefits however we got told once you claim child tax credits if you get a certain amount then you're entitled. So if you are declined it might be worth waiting until you've claimed tax credits then applying again. You have 3 months after baby is born to apply.

You need to b on at least one of these.....jobseekers, income support, working tax

Its because they dont tell people! I wasnt entitled while pregnant so my application was denied. I then applied after having LO as I got child tax credits and it was approved. They dont tell you so you dont know what you are entitled to and they dont have to pay out!

thats a bit cheeky that they don't say.

Does it have to be within the first 12 weeks after birth??
