This was taken yesterday (as i was kept in overnight due to spotting and very bad cramps). Saw a heartbeat but faint. Measured at 5w6d

I was scanned this morning and the date jumped to 6w5d. I think i am 6 and a half weeks.

I am threatening miscarriage as they said any blood is that but i thought once you saw a heartbeat the chance was lower?

chance with heartbeat is lower but when you've bled its not much different.
Heres my 6 week + 4 days scan, also heart beat seen;

I love scan piccies :) all the best xxxx

some people say once you see hb the chance is lower but im not sure i believe that because lots of women mc at 7 8 weeks etc and heart starts beating around 5_6 weeks i hope everything works out ok for you try not to worry good sign that the heart is beating

xxx

it's misinformation if they told you that any blood is a miscarriage. it's very common for women to have bleeding early in pregnancy from the outside of the cervix when it becomes engorged with blood. i hope everything goes well for you!! good luck!

I also agree that any bleeding is threatened mc as ive been bleeding now for 15 days, and they believe it to be something to do with the last mc back in April or blood outside the cervix, threatend mc blood is different apparently. I also dont believe the crap about seeing a heartbeat reduces the risk, how can a person seeing a heartbeat reduce the risk of anythin? i had a missed mc at 10 weeks, had saw a heartbeat at 6wks. Just see how it goes, thats all i can say, not meaning to sound blunt but nobody can do anything to prevent or stop mc's unfortunatly, hence y we all have to hope for the best. I think we should just lay eggs!! x

hey honey,

seeing a heartbeat is a really good sign. there is still a chance of a mc but it is reduced. this link is for the national mc association and they say it's 78% chance of success if you see HB at 6 weeks, and it goes up to 98% chance if you see a HB after 8 weeks.

good luck honey, sending you sticky babydust,

Cute pic :) I believe the chance is reduced after seeing a heartbeat. It kept me going anyway :hugs: I had a bleed at 13 weeks and was put down as threatened miscarriage as all bleeds are (if they are left unexplained) and I am now 16+4 and so far so good. Wishing you all the best :hugs: xxx

Its a higher risk if you have bled xx

i was bleeding at 6 weeks. had a scan at 6weeks and seen something veeeery similar to yours.

and now shes here. i bled right up to 10 weeks.

I spotted once at around 5 weeks and I panicked and thought it was all over!! I had a scan at 6w3d (which I had thought was 6w) and everything was fine. Also u/s can check the source of any bleed. Mine must have been cervical becasue there was no evidence of bleeding in the uterus.

It makes sense that the risk of mc drops with each week and seeing the HB. Of course, you're never 100% safe but it certainly helps to read these stats!

If the scan picks up a heartbeat and the baby appears to be the right size according to your dates, this can be very reassuring. Research has shown that if you see a heartbeat at 6 weeks of pregnancy, the chances of the pregnancy continuing are 78%. A heartbeat at 8 weeks increases the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks to 99.4%. So things could still go wrong, but as long as there is a heartbeat, the risk of miscarriage decreases as the weeks go by.
Have a happy and healthy 9 months :happydance:

Thanks for that 2, as ive been bleeding 15days now, nothing was picked up on the scan but midwife didnt tell me anything, my doctor suggested things, but eased my mind a little knowing that :)

Thank you very much for the reassurance.

I know things can go wrong after having the heartbeat as i have had multiple miscarriages (13 weeks, 9 weeks etc)

But its nice to have some hope. Thanks guys.
