6wk+1, Genetics testing

Hi everyone, I had my 6wk appointment today, no scan or anything, just a pelvic exam. Nurse said my uterus was where it should be for 6 wks. My first ultrasound will be when im 11 weeks, July 14 and at the same time nervous. I will also be having genetics testing done, as my brother-in-law has autism as does my cousin. Has anyone else had genetics testing done and if so, what does it entail??

Hello there! I had a couple genetic tests done that were just done throught my blood work I dont know if they do it any other way. My mom also had it done with my sister and 3 different specialists told my mom that my baby sister would have down syndrome.... she is 13 now and HEALTHY!!. I found several websites that say genetic testing comes back with false positive ALOT of the time!!

Thanks, they are referring me for genetic counseling as well (I was born with Russell Silver Syndrome), so I am thinking they aren't overly concerned, just precaution. Glad your sister is healthy after having a false positive.
