Depression does make things a lot more complicated. I've had a lot of 'downs' in my marriage because of my depression.

Is the counsellor specifically for the depression? Would relationship counselling with someone like Relate help? It can be very hard for a partner to deal with depression, and a lot of men don't like to talk about things. Counselling might help you communicate better and perhaps work out a way to make things work?

Is your husband aware of the problem between his parents and you? Have you tried sitting down and talking things through with them - find out exactly why they aren't happy, and work out a way to resolve the problem?

One thing I would advise, is to not rush any major descisons while you are depressed. You are entitled to take as much time and space as you need, but make sure you don't do anything hasty while you are unwell.

Have you spoken to your doctor about the possibility of medication or therapy?
