8 week old only taking 20z

Hi all

After some advice! I'm switching my 8 week old baby over from bf to formula feeding. It's been a hard couple of weeks!! She refused to take the bottle and then we eventually switched from tommee tippee to mam and from aptamil to cow and gate, and although she still fusses a bit, she will eventually take it. We started with one bottle a day and now up to two and bf the rest but I'm concerned as she only takes 2-3iz per bottle. I assume this is because she's ao used to in demand bf. It means in always tempted to top up with breast between feeds when actually I'm trying to stop them! Anyone had this issue? I'm going to buy medium flow teats today to see if they make a difference. This is my 2nd baby I didn't have this issue with my son who took the bottle and every ounce he could get immediately so it's stumped me!

How many feeds do they take a day?

I would say that sounds fine. As long as she is happy and content between feeds and not showing any signs of hunger, then you're doing something right. If you're BF in between, it's impossible to know how much she might be getting then and formula doesn't taste as nice, so no surprise she might take less while she is getting used to it. We switched to bottle feeding around 6 weeks, which was expressed milk and formula, and then eventually all formula, but I would say 2-3 oz per feed sounds about right with maybe 8 feeds a day. Some babies just don't eat loads, but if she's content and not hungry after a feed, then she's getting what she needs.

Yeh she seems happy afterwards I guess it's only because I'm trying to stop bf and we haven't been giving that many bottles that I'm worried. Thanks for your response it's put my mind at rest a bit!
