I am struggling to shift the last of the baby weight - seems no matter what I do I can't loose it i.e. diet, exercise etc (I am not a person who has struggled with weight before). Someone said to me that there really is some truth to "9 months on 9 months off" and that your body sheds the baby weight around the 9 mont mark.

Anyone know if there is any truth to this...? (give me hope please)

I don't know to be honest. I'm currently making no effort to lose weight and my baby will be 9m on 2nd Feb. I'm currently half a stone heavier than pre pg and don't envisage it'll suddenly disappear at 9m...

Having said that, it's sensible to lose the weight gradually rather than crash diet, if you're going to actively try and lose the weight.

Is prob not what you want to hear but my weight dropped off me when i started cooking proper home made food and doing some excercise...this was when LO was around 4 months old.

IMO it is not guna drop off you at the 9month mark but i think the theory behind that maybe that if you 'eat well and healthy and do some gentle excercise' it will take around 9 months to get back to your pre preg weight??
xx

I am hoping it will come off soon! I have about a stone to lose until I am at pre-preg weight, if not a teeny bit lighter than pre-preg. It just wont come off! I need to do some proper exercise really, but with the weather and trying to sort my LO's daytime nap routine out, it just isn't happening. I really hoped (pre giving birth!!) that I would be at my pre-preg weight for NY... Bit ambitious obviously!

i have about 6 pounds to lose to get back to pre-pg weight which was 9 stones, i was about 8 and a half when i got married two years ago but i think i was a little too skinny. my los 5 months now and i havent done any excercise but i have been eating healthily i.e. no chocs, crisps cakes atc and all my meat is grilled, no potatoes only jacket pot etc, very boring but ive lost 3 stones. i think the key is eating healthily and excercise. A personal trainer said that losing weight is down to 80% diet and 20% excercise and i believe that xxx

Here's me at 6 months pregnant:

i dunno i got pregnant 9 months after giving birth

bah!! Emma is 6 months. I am 50lbs heavier now than before I was pregnant............its not shifting, it is in fact going up.

I'm lighter now than I was pre-preg, I've lost 46lbs since giving birth but nothing started moving until about 2months and I've been breastfeeding, calorie counting, and babywearing. But on average I've lost about 10lb a month.

I think the 9 months on, 9 months off is a saying to mean it's going to take a while to get your body back to shape and lose weight!! I'd love the weight to drop off the day my LO turns 9 months!!!

If you are struggling, go back to basics...
3 meals a day
no snacking apart from fruit
weigh food esp carbs (potatoes, pasta, rice etce, easy to overestimate portions)
regular exercise to get you sweaty.

It is hard esp when you get older.
I am being very good with my diet, and power walking/running about 30 miles a week and only losing 2 pounds a week. Haven't lost for the last 2 weeks althought it was TOTM and I can feel my jeans are loser. I am still carrying some fluid though (swollen legs) Need to pee it out!!
2 stones to go!!!

good luck, hun
