Hi, I'm Jane.
I'm a 37-year-old mom of two grown kids (ages 18 and 19).
I thought I was done, but recently began suffering from empty-nest syndrome, I guess, and am now TTC again, as of about a month ago.

I conceived my two kids so easily- by accident, obviously. I was only in my teens (hence my username; lol).
I'm looking forward to being a much older and more mature mom this time around.
I feel I've learned so much and have so much more patience now.
I'd like a daughter (my two are both boys) but either way is fine.

My last gyno visit was about a year ago; everything's fine. I'm healthy and apparently still fertile, since the gyno was persistently demanding that I allow him to insert an IUD ("..or you'll get pregnant!" according to him; at the time, I was not TTC). He seemed dissatisfied with my assertion that NFP and the withdrawal method worked okay for us.

I admit, although I only decided to TTC last month, mid-cycle, I was disappointed when AF arrived. I had hoped I'd hit the jackpot my very first cycle of trying.
After further research, I realize this was a foolish hope. Women my age are not as fertile as younger women, and often have to try for much longer.
I don't think I had really known that, until now.
I mean... I may have heard it, but I didn't think anything about it, since I was never planning to TTC again. It didn't apply to me.
Now it does, I guess.

If nothing else, though, this TTC effort has brought my husband and I closer together. We'd become slackers in the bedroom, so stressed and busy with our jobs that we often only had sex twice a month or so. This cycle, we've done it every single day. It's great, I feel it's really improved our relationship.

I should add that my husband is 38 and has never had any biological children (or wanted any, before now). He is not the natural father of my kids.
So, in the back of my mind there's a little niggling worry that he may be sterile. But I guess we'll deal with that if and when the time comes.
We don't plan to turn to any extraordinary measures (such as medical intervention) if we're unable to have a child together. For one thing, we're pretty poor and probably couldn't afford it; my hubby's not even insured.
If it turns out we can't conceive, I'll probably just give up and wait to become a grandma, which will likely happen in the next few years.

Anyway, sorry for the novella, ladies. That's my story.
