So yesterday I made the 4 hr drive to see my parents. I've got a Daewoo Matiz - it only has a 1ltr engine and is a total granny car, but that suits me just fine.

I'm driving along the motorway in the middle lane, fast-approaching two lorries so pull into the outer lane to overtake them. Some idiot in a suped-up car who had just joined the motorway pulls into the middle lane as I'm pulling over and was obviously planning to pull straight into the outer lane, until he realised I was there and that he had nowhere to go. I overtake him and he pulls straight in behind me, riding so close to my backend that he may aswell have been sitting in the back of my bloody car. There's no way he could not have seen the 'baby on board' sign dangling from my rear window and LO has a rear facing car seat so the driver would have been able to see him too. I refuse to be bullied along (especially when my 3 MONTH OLD son is in the car) so carry on driving at 70mph until I'd overtaken the lorries. I pull straight in as soon as I'm able to and the prick decides to ride alongside me at the exact same speed as me, trying to intimidate me for having the audacity to drive at the national speed limit. I managed to pull in to the inner lane and he sped off into the distance, trying to prove a point.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened to me either. I dont know whether I'm just more aware of it since having the baby but I'm really pissed off about it. Funnily enough, stuff like this never happens when my skinhead muscleman OH is sat next to me

Rant over!

Oh my god things like that annoy me so much! I don't get why people think they have the right to endanger your lives by driving like idiots! Usually if someone drives right up my butt when I am already going the speed limit I slow down!

Believe me I was tempted but I decided that the sooner I got away from him the better!

ughh i hate drivers like that. i encounter that a lot as i frequently drive long distances on the motorway.
there are so many bad drivers. im not averse to flicking them the finger if they are riding too close behind me or pull in in front of me too close!
i think there must be a lot of men with tiny penis syndrome who think if they drive aggressively their penis will feel big

Haha that actually made me laugh out loud BeachyBronzer

That's when you need a bazooka strapped to the top of the car.

you get so many idiot drivers on the motorway in Germany (no speed limit) ... people in their friggin bmws in the overtaking lane going 200mph etc. then the idiots on lorries who try to overtake another lorry going 1mph faster than the other slowing everyone else down.

I HATE MOTORWAYS!!!!

Urrrghhhh! I hate drivers like that. And why do lorries try overtaking other lorries? It takes them forever to do it, its totally pointless :grr:

Wow I never knew the German motorways had no speed limit, that's mad! I hate motorways too but it'd take soo much longer to drive back to my parents the non-motorway route.

Oddly though im sure i read that german road safety record is lot better then ours.

I havnt braved a motor way yet

some parts do have speed limits but the majority doesn't. surprisingly I hardly see people proper bombing it along. I probably only see one person go mad on one long motorway journey. they have less accidents too as they tend to stay further apart from everyone else rather than up each others backsides xD

In general I prefer the motorway as no silly lights/turnings etc and its generally easier. I do hate wankers that go up your arse though!

I enjoy driving on the motorway but you do have to be more aware of what other drivers are doing than what you are doing yourself IMO. Not many people drive at 70 on the motorway if there are no cameras - it is really annoying when you have someone who gets right up your arse when you're overtaking a slower vehicle and start flashing you etc. I just take it with a pinch of salt and always make sure I'm smiling/laughing when the idiot passes me as that winds them up even more than you being annoyed at them does. The very first time I drove on the M1 I drove from home to Southampton which is about a four and a half hour drive made up of motorway and roundabouts

^ I cant make eye contact lol my OH always waves at them from the passenger seat if they are getting irate. First few times I stayed in the left lane but a few times recently I have ventured into the middle lane if I am stuck behind lorry etc. I agree its down to watching the other drivers etc.
The last time I drove in the motorway it was raining bad. It was not so bad though because MOST people were going about 50mph or even less but visibility was awful x

There is no excuse for tailgating at all - I am glad no accident occurred :)

I could rant all day about the behaviour of the vast majority of motorway users -

Middle lane morons who dawdle along at 60mph when they should be in the inside lane (same goes for those that sit in the outside lane for no apparent reason hindering those of us who want to make a little progress) forcing the outside lanes to become congested and therefore slower...

Elephant racing trucks who always seem to choose a section of dual carriageway to take 7 miles to overtake one other truck in order to make up a few seconds of driving time...

People who can't stick to a constant speed - you move out to overtake, they immediately speed up - if you happen to pull back in behind they slow down again...

Grr!!!

Things like this are why I am saving up to have a camera in my car!!!!! I get sooo infuriated driving. Some days (when I dont have emma in the car) I secretly hope that in heavy traffic someone does get too close to me, so I can use my tow bar to rip their front bumper off!
I'm unfortunately known for losing my temper with other drivers............ive been told by a person that ROAD RAGE is worse than driving on a mobile phone or speeding! EH?! What Tosh, me sticking my fingers up is not as bad as doing 60 in a 30.

I also hare rudeness.........here on the rush hour its generally polite in that at junctions you let someone out, you go, the person behind does the same........we all knit together and continue on our merry way.........but there is always someone who wont adhere to that unwritten rule........and then, i do laugh when someone in front of them has seen this.........and so will let like 10 cars out at the next junction - HAHAHAH - I do reckon its to spite them!

Someone told me a couple of weeks ago that that were going to make tailgating an endorsable offend to tailgate. I may be wrong though- although I hope they do.

I hate bad drivers, there are so many rude and ignorant people on the roads these days. Bad parking is another pet hate too. And I don't even drive!!

My OH has a great way of dealing with these sorts of drivers. He literally slows down, forcing them to overtake on the left instead of right and then literally follows them until they freak out. Only two can play that game, haha.
