That's how I understand it lol! There are a few friends I've made in Canada who didn't use midwives...I don't think I'll cope without one :nope: Hope we find a good one :)

o.0 I don't think I could cope either. Maybe it's a UK thing:wacko:

That's fantastic Baby Love!!!! I think it's fantastic that the biological father wants to be involved with your future child too. I'm sure you will all make a great family.

Thanks Lu-is! I think we will too, although I'm biased lol. Where in Canada are you? x

I think you will make a great family!! As someone befor said (sorry forgot who it was!!) All we need is love and it sounds like you've little bunddle will get plenty of that!!!
Good luck!!

i was just going to ask are you going to ivf with the man or ttc with sex.. but you mentioned a turkey baster? :laugh2:

just wanted to say hello and welcome  lots of luck of your ttc journey xx

In Canada people traditionally get an OBGYN (obstetrician/gynecologist) which is great since you definitely need one if you have a high risk pregnancy. But if it is a normal risk then you don't need a medical doctor (especially a specialist!). You get much more personal care with a midwife and they can handle most things that come up during pregnancy & labour. They are two different streams though - you either go traditional and get a midwife or you get a doc - they don't share the labour/delivery room and only midwives do home births. If something happens and you need medical intervention, you are transferred to the doctor.

For the record, as long as you have a normal pregnancy I could not recommend a midwife more!

xx

Ooooh that's a ways out from me then! I have to get used to the idea that Canada is sooooooo huge!

Eeeeew no penises! lol. If it came to it (pardon the pun) then I guess I'd do it the 'normal' way hehe. But we are going to try with the turkey baster. Our poor baby daddy is never going to be able to look at one of those things again! :haha:

Thanks so much. All I've done all my life is care for other people's children, and they always get so attached to me. Now I want to give all that love to one of my own

I want a midwife and a home birth...bit daring with my first but I want my comforts around me, I don't really like hospital environments. So you had a midwife...was it a home birth? Any midwives in particular you'd recommend? :winkwink:

I hope my pregnancy will be straightforward as I am young, fit, healthy...I am already on prenatal vitamins (lol). As far as I'm concerned I'm good to go! I'm even at a point where I'd risk it without OHIP, but my wife won't hear of it, more's the pity...

Hope you're having a good day with your little munchkin :hugs:

good luck baby love !!:)...if i remember correctly when i was still in the lttc section we had a member in there who got pregnant with turkey baster as well with no problem...
anyway i am in San Francisco...as for me i had a obgyn follow me ...my husband and i we had a long ttc journey and some complications during the pregnancy so we felt more confortable with a obgyn...i was glad as we had a complicated birth as well somewhat too...
but every one journey is diferents so go with what you feel is best for you :)

First of all, congrats on your new arrival! Thank you for sharing a bit of your journey with me, it's always nice to know about others' experiences...You must be exhausted right now, but I bet your extremely happy. I'm glad the turkey baster worked for someone else, that's reassuring :winkwink:

Aww that's lovely that the potenial biological father wants to be involved in you babies life, and that you'd both like that too. It's too true, all you need is love! xxx

I didn't have a home birth as our place at the time was too tiny and my OH was too nervous. I wouldn't have been able to do it in the end anyway since Bun was born a month early. I don't know if we would do a home birth this time around either - my last birth was great and I would be lucky for it to go as well again. Also there is a good chance that the next will also be early and you need to be 37 weeks to have a home birth. I absolutely have midwives I would recommend!!! But they are a little far from you in Toronto. Let me know if you want names and I can PM them to you!

I can see why she would want you to get on OHIP first though. We are lucky here - I don't even know how much medical care costs but I am sure its more than I have. It will be good to have just in case, though I am sure your pregnancy/labour will go well. :)

xx

 Turkey baster.
The turkey baster method worked for us too  We ttc for one month with two different donors. Can't say it was specifically *fun*, but it worked
