Hello! I have diagnosed with one blocked fallopian tube and whilst the other is patent apparently, there is some scarring at the end. My consultant says that I can get pregnant naturally but because I have been ttc for the last year then the chances of this happening are slim. So it looks like I will be having IVF after all.....I am trying to find out if I am covered for one round on the NHS, I live in Bedfordshire but have heard that they will only accept you one year from diagnosis and I dont really want to wait a year to start. I am 35 now so want to just get on with it.

Anyway, the main point of my post is that, can anyone recommend a good acupuncturist in the Beds/Bucks or central London? I have read that it is better to start this earlier. Is this true?

To be honest, any help would be appreciated as i have just found out about the blocked tubes and am feeling a bit overwelmed as to what I should be doing!

Thanks so much.

hiya

i have a blocked tube and am on 2ww after ivf.
i have been having acu since nov last year and would highly recommend it. Im in st albans , so i know one or two here but thats prob isnt god for you

in london you can got to zita west but its expensive about £68 per hour

or you can try londonacupunture.com google it.

Hope that helps xx

sorry forgot to mention, whoever you choose ensure they are trained in fertilty and ivf as there is a different protocol for ivf.
my has been trained by zita west.

sorry to ask by what does 2ww mean? I am new to all this!

Thanks so much for the info, I will look at going to the londonacumpuncture as can walk to Harley street from my work. I see what you mean about it being expensive!! After the initial consultation how often do you go?

2ww = 2 week wait ( ie waitng for your period).
It's normal to have acu once every week - Zita West does seem more expensive than other places.

Hi there

I'm also 35 in a few months so know how you feel about the wait, it's been 18 months since diagnosis at the GP at 12 months since we went on the IVF waiting list.

We are allowed to have 1 privately funded cycle before our NHS cycle - so you could still go down the NHS route as a back-up plan??

Sorry no idea re the accupuncture - i was going to have it for my cycle but freaked with the needles.... what a nightmare!

there are a few near harley st but i would still recommend londonacupuncture.
As abs says you go about once a week

2ww: i had an embryo transfer last week, so i will be testing next week and get my BFP!!

You mentioned you are looking for an accupuncturist in the Bucks area? I can recommend mine. He specialises in fertility. He charges £40 per session and is based in Marlow, Bucks. He has a wealth of knowledge concerning IVF. I have been going since June last year.

May be too far for you to travel though.

i have just rang this guy as clare nazeer from GMTV used him during her ivf
he sounds really good, im going to see him next week

yes I think Marlow is a bit too far, it's about an hours drive for me but thanks anyway. I will check out the ones near Harley street and can hopefully go in my lunch break. I better get saving as all of this treatment seems to cost a fortune!!

Well I have spoken to the clinic at Oxford which is where I would be going in NHS funded and they confirm it's a year from diagnosis so probably going to fund a round or two by ourselves.

More questions I'm afraid!! I am not really sure where to pick if we are funding a cycle pivately. The Saxon clinic in Milton Keynes is very near me and I could drive there and they have quite good success rates. I have had a look at a few on Harley st, again as it's near work, they are more expensive but the success rates are slightly higher. My main concern is if the treatment makes me feel ill then I have to traipse back on the train to get home if I go to Harley street but on the other hand, if I go to the Saxon, it's miles from work and I cant see them being very happy about me having all the time off. I suppose I am asking, am I being realistic by hoping I can carry on work and just how disruptive is the whole process???

Muncho, I will keep my fingers crossed for you. xxx

the best ones near you are:

ARGC Harley st. i think they areno1 in the country, i coudnt go to them as i have high fsh

Lister - chelsea. this is where i am

ACU - Kings cross. my sis had major issues and she got preg here twice, i donated me eggs so it was a miracle ivf..

they are all good but as you say london is Very expensive.

great thanks, I will check them out. For the ACU, do you mean Kings College Hospital or an acu at Kings cross?

No its called the Assisted Conception unit. You will find the details on the web! good luck

Slanger just wanted to pop in....
I'm in beds too and under the L&D we get 3 fully funded cycles of IVF. When we saw the fertility specialist at the L&D she recommended Oxford as there was no waiting list. We were diagnosed in July last year and are starting IVF next month-only 8 months. The receptionist said as we are east of england funded it means that we need to get started asap kind of, she said it was hard to explain, but once we had our appointment things needed to move quickly kind of thing.

I dont know if age has anything to do with it, but I'm 26. Just wondered why you'd been told something different? Hope you can get in sooner! Have u been referred by fertilty consultant at the hospital yet?x

Just to let you know, on Zita West's website you can put your postcode in and it shows you the nearest acupuncture clinics to you.

Good luck.
