Advise on what to expect with MC

Hi

I am just going through my second mc the 1st in April was at 11wk so I had a D&C but this time I were 5 weeks and started bleeding so I phoned EPU and all they said were to rest and no need to see Dr unless getting any pain which I haven't.

It started like this
Day1-9 bleeding then getting lighter each day
Day 9-17 nothing
today is day 18 and I have been bleeding very heavy all day, got back ache and feel drained.

I were just a bit worried why I had started bleeding again and that my back is aching, is this OK/normal?

everyone has a diffrent experiance what your experiancing is what i had... i found a paracetamol and hot water bottle helped alittle.
If your a little concerned you could always ring your gp or nurse for a chat over the phone theyl reassure you

Im sorry you're going through this hun...i know where you;re coming from having just had an ercp/d&c 2 weeks ago this coming tuesday.

I know that all is not lost until you see it on a scan..so fingers crossed until then!!

But im sure you want some answers and i can only say that for me it started the same as you the second time around. the first time i had a mmc and had no clue until i went for my scan. However, this time i started spotting, no pain, no cramps. I called epau and they said the same. Unless i had cramps and pain i was to monitor the bleeding. I got scheduled for a scan the tuesday..i started spotting on friday morning. It went on like that until early evening when i started to have mild cramping- not pg cramping- so is started to think..'oh-oh...something's not right' you know?

As it happened i woke up about 5 am and started to have heavy bleeding with huge clots and i knew it was over. Over the day i continued this pattern accompanied by bad cramps. Sunday was a bit better, but again i had horrendous cramps. I thought it was all over by the time i went for my scan, only to be shocked to find out it was all still there and i decided for a ercp/d&c.

I know this might be upsetting reading and im sure you're already fearing the worst. But it wouldnt be the first time bad things seem to happen and for it only to be a false alarm.

Please keep the faith, if you can. At the end of the day you are the best judge as to what is going on with you. And i for one hope its a much better outcome than for me.

I've had a missed miscarriage. Went for 12 week scan on 23 December and found out baby died at 7+2. The earliest they could book me in for an ERPC was tomorrow because of the xmas period. The nurse said that because I didn't have any bleeding so far, the chances are I wouldn't but my miscarriage began on xmas day. I just had the tiniest bit of spotting, which I have had since. Last night I woke up with cramps and took some neurofen which eased it and today, I've still only got spotting but am feeling more crampy.

I think that maybe it can take a while for the baby to pass through. I'm hoping it holds off until tomorrow as I've heard some stories of miscarriage being quite painful at 7 weeks. I'd just wait it out and if you get into any real discomfort, then go to hospital. Do you know if you are definitely miscarrying as lots of people bleed through pregnancy?

I haven't seen a Dr at all with this MC. The was so faint then 2 days after it didn't get any darker so I had a feeling things were not right then I started with stomach pains then bled the day after for about a week. It was quite heavy so im sure its got to be over. I thought things were getting back to normal but this bleeding today has worried me as its so heavy and its to early to be having my next period.

Our stories are all quite similar I too went for my 12 week scan thinking everything was fine but turned out a terrible shock, so I had a d&c a day after. Then thought eventually got caught again only to go through it all again. Please Please let it be 3rd time lucky for us

Not sure what is happening sweets. I know with my mmc, I went for a scan at 12w2d and found LO had died 4 weeks previously. I had started to have heavy bleeding and slight cramps at this stage and opted for a d&C a day later. Unfortunately, I had passed LO a few hours before the op took place but was dosed up with morphine/gas and air for the pain.

I had a complete miscarriage at the beginning of this year and the pain was alot less. I was 9 weeks but I think LO had died weeks before hand as my symptoms had gone.

Not to worry. Everyone's body and hormones and pregnancies are differnet. Yours does sound normal. I had a m/c at 5 weeks too, and had it naturally. Mine spotted for 13 days, then bleed very heavily on the 14th day (the actual m/c), and that lasted for 2 days. After the heavy bleeding, I spotted continueously for 6 weeks. It's all related to your hormones and what it's telling your body.

Sometimes your af can come back really quickly. If you get a neg hpt now then that would tell you that the first bleed was the m/c and this second one your next af.

I've heard a hot water bottle makes the blood run faster. Not sure if this is true but, if you are having a miscarriage, perhaps this will speed it up? Hope you are ok xxx

Agree with the other girls.
I've just stopped bleeding from my 4th mc. I found a hot water bottle, hot bath, paracetamol, fresh air and walking helped me. Everyones experiences are different though.

well its now 37 days post mc no and it turns out I had a chemical pg bout 4 1/2 wks so I thought af should have come back around usual time, not sure what is going on. I went dr about 2 weeks ago I had no infection and so I thought would have been here by know.

I were hoping i might get a suprise but ha ha no such luck anyone had similar or got any advice

I had a chemical pregnancy end of last year, I had my period the following month and got pregnant - unfortunatley this all ended this week I have no idea what to expect this time after an erpc.

I think that some people with a chemical pregnancy can miss a cycle. Maybe this is happening to you? I hope it comes soon for you.

I had a chemical early November and fell straight away, 4 weeks till the day I got my but unfortunately I misscarried at the weekend there.

Sounds like we had similar experiences there MrsJD. My chemical was in Nov too and got pregnant straight away. Think I'm going to wait a cycle this time... what about you?

Not sure Widger, well I am sure but the waiting kills me

When I had my chemical the Gyn agreeded to take bloods including genetics, so when I phoned in December to tell them I was pregnant, he called back saying bloods were fine but I was to take a baby asprin a day and they would keep my feb appointment (from the bloods in November) still in the diary.

SO! since I've MC AGAIN at the weekend I go to see him then to discuss investigations. Also, I had my thyroid removed two years ago so to cover all options I've spoke to the Thyroid Surgeons PA and she'll be happy to see me to dicuss Thryriod and MC's.

What about you Widger?(and sorry for your losses).

I don't know what is up with me. I'm obviously just getting over it too as had erpc on Weds. It is good that your doc is taking this seriously and helping to check out any problems.

I'm sorry for your losses too. I'm feeling pretty numb about the whole thing really.

Lets hope we will have some good news in a few months time xx

Don't think I'll go in 1st trimester forum though... don't think I could bring myself to go in there again in case it all goes pear shaped for a 3rd time.

I'm totally numb, haven't cried which is so not me, but to be honest think that will come over the next few days.

I know what you mean about going back to the first Trimester, god why is life so hard at time.
