After all bills and rent

Once mortgage, bills and nursery bills have gone (salary sacrifice) - we have between 1.5 and 2k.

This is for food, (too much) petrol, dh and I have a bit of 'spends' each, money for things that lo needs, paying for holidays, paying off credit card if needs be, clothes etc.

Seems to disappear quickly enough!!

How do people manage on £200 - I'd spend that on just food - any tips on cutting down gratefully received!!

We have to manage lol. Me and OH don't tend to eat fresh. We buy ourselves meals from Iceland as that's all we can afford. Rather our money went on our children. I'm lucky my dad gives me £50 a month.

flipping heck were poor  2k a month? jesusssss

food is all tesco value. my months shop is £100, including nappies & wipes etc, thats just me & LO, but shes like a human dustbin!! lol
i buy the reduced meat & freeze it.

clothes, primark & we have very few clothes.

holidays, weve had 2 holidays & they were only to the coast & we were invited to tag along with mum & dad. we wouldnt of had a holiday if it wasnt for them.

i try and walk everywhere as much as possible to save on petrol & i have no credit cards.

i dont have any spare cash for spending etc.

on a Sunday i empty all my coppers & anything less than a 50p into a jar & at the end of the month this usually adds up to about £20, this will pay for swimming or soft play for the following month.

hth xx

That's amazing - I only buy tesco own nappies but those plus night nappies (he's a big wetter!) and wipes comes to just under £40 - he does poo a lot though!

I've not been on holiday since 2009 so any spare money we have now is going toward a holiday next year.

Petrol is a massive expense - our getting to work petrol is £400 and then I have to pay to park too. If we go anywhere on the weekend it's even more and usually another £90 tank if we visit family for the weekend :nope:

About 800 usually - would be so much more if we didn't live in one of the most expensive areas in the uk!

on paper we have £771 spare after bills but that never happens!

£450-700 depending on what shifts I have done, I would say my OH has approx £500

Probably about £800. I have no idea where it goes though!

about £400 we allow £160 for food and £100 for petrol the rest is my spending money im a sahm and hubby is only earner we dont get any benefits

My OH is the only earner & we don't get any benefits. We're left with about £100-150 a week that's without doing shopping, but it never feels like we get left with that much after we've spent it :haha:

£1600

OH and I have £200 a week each to spend, we have no debt and mostly free food. Petrol is like £20 a week so I dont tend to count it x

Depends on how much OT I do a month, it's usually around £100-£150 a week. That's for petrol, food shopping, any other necessities, etc. But is usually gone with just petrol & food alone. Gas guzzling car = 40-50 a week in petrol and our weekly food shop budget is about 40-50, depending on if we need nappies or not. So never much left for 'extras' unfortunately.

Can't believe some people have a few thousand spare per month :O x
