All these riots everywhere!!!

also, i really cant see this ending, people know they can get away with it nw, theres no reason to stop, im pretty worried tbh that it will only get worse and worse and worse until its all over the country and were fucked!

people keep saying to me oh theres been other riots and theyve stopped but the other riots were fighting for a cause, its not so easy this tiem just to say ok we'll give into your demands kind of thing, this is just people being knobheads for no reason so i cant see them ever stopping

Actually this riot seems quite similar to another riot in the 80s...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadwater_Farm_riot

Woman dies during police search of her home / Man shot by police
Peaceful protest turns ugly / peaceful protest turns ugly
Riots and looting follow / riots and looting follow

There were racial tensions at the time, and there are tensions at the moment between classes. Although much of this is mindless criminality there are political issues which are causing tension, so some are fighting for a cause. It will all end just as that did when those issues are addressed.

that does make me feel a lot better actually although that link said that it took a death of a policeman and rain for the riots to die down x

Im annoyed too hun! Its just crazy! My OH and I were talking about it and he said he thinks at least 90% of them dont even have a reason, he heard someone on the radio who was joining in and stealing blaming the government, but she didnt even know what party were in!

They are just criminals, plain and simple, jumping on the bandwagon.

Really doesn't surprise me. These people aren't even thick, its worse than that. This country doesn't stand a chance if parents are condoning their kids behaviour :nope:

the big retail park in my town closed early
last night and tonight, it's next to the m3 so they're
worried about people coming down from london looting
it and driving off, it's got a huge curries/comet etc so
would be perfect to loot :dohh:

they wont go for the town there's bugger all in it but
the retail park's at risk apparently so they've locked it
all up just to be safe, no one lives in them though so
that's good and it's away from houses too

just waiting for it to come down south
it's only a matter of time :nope:

1820: "Two people already jailed for their part in last night's disorder - swift justice. Two men sentenced to 10 weeks and 16 weeks. First of many," it reads.

10 & 16 weeks of bragging and watching television. Fantastic :dohh:

Will from Bexhill e-mails: I'm 19, I have a job and completely condemn the looting. It's pathetic and mindless. I think Greenwich Council saying it will be seeking the eviction of council tenants if they are found to have been engaged in criminal activities is the right sort of attitude!

It's getting out of hand I'm in bham about 20 mins from city centre, near to where I live last night banks was done and tesco express, petrol station. My bro has worked in town he is on nights and they have had to lock themselves in, my dad took him last night and had to have a police escort from the car park to bro work. Me and my parents have had no sleep worrying if he is ok.
R.I.P the 3 young men who got killed last night

hmm Hampshire has one of the smallest forces of police. Re-assuring?? lol :(

Half the officers in the forest dont even have cars, they ride push bikes!!??

yep, our police force is tiny and we have some
big cities and most places are next to motorways
wont be great if it hits here, they'll strike and run

:nope:

I am shocked the force is so small with Southampton and Portsmouth, both busy citys?

What hope do the kids have if their parents are getting involved :nope:

Yeah very, but it seems that everything's stayed pretty civil in both places so far :happydance: I'm between the two, in Gosport, a 2min ride from Portsmouth over the water!

I really hope it doesnt kick off as bad tonight as I think it might xx

3 people were killed in hit and run accident while they were protecting their homes and businesses from looters in Birmingham. Shahzad Ali, Abdul Musavir, Mohammed Haroon -- rest in peace. Surely we belong to Allah, and to Him shall we return...

I have to say I have the utmost respect for the dignified way in which the asian community in birmingham handled the tradegy last night. I am praying this doesn't turn racial

He's amazing, I saw it. My heart goes out to him and it's great to hear him take such comfort in his god Allah & his religion. I hope all stays quiet tonight, I've only heard of unrest in Bournemouth tonight.

1843: Jackie from Peckham, London emails: I've just read with disbelief the sentences of 10 weeks and 16 weeks, I don't understand why the sentences are so light. The damage caused to communities and businesses is going to take longer than 10 to 16 weeks to rectify! This sends out the wrong message completely!!

He's right, this is disgusting. Some people have lost their homes forever and these knobs get a few weeks and then get to go back home. Where is the bloody justice?!?!

A teaching assistant charged - just proves that his crime was fuelled by greed, and nothing else.
